Bluemoon labour thread.

Thanks sweynforkbeard - I have read your posts, all reasoned and intelligent - but tell me this - why are you the only person I have come across that agrees with me? Are we all brainwashed? In the circles in which I move no-one has ever, or will consider this scenario! All too far fetched!
Maybe we have the start of something here ;-)

(politically I mean!)

I think we need specialised people in these highly important roles - people from our world - the business world - the REAL world. Maybe someone with financial experience at the top level for chancellor, a high ranking executive in the Health Service for Health Secretary, instead of Andy Burnham, a man who has been shuffled more times than a pack of cards, etc etc

They earn far more in 'the REAL world' than they would as an MP.

Brown earns less than the CEO's of all the big companies in this country.

Thanks. In the past people usually became MPs after success in other fields, they had gained experience which could be put to good use in their constituencies and nationally. Now we have a political class who are, as you posted, remote from real life and too often seem concerned about careerism and what they can achieve for themselves. This change in the political landscape has been happening for a number of years, but, unfortunately, I believe the tipping point was reached under New Labour.

I agree about 2 Jags. The expenses scandal has exposed the grubby nature of politicians on all sides. I just hope that people will remember the party of family values telling us how to live our lives whilst engaging prostitutes, having extra-marital affairs, choking to death in auto-erotic adventures and hiring rent-boys.

Good point, but to whittle down the 646 MP's we currently have under a radical re-structure would give more money in the pot to pay a more qualified person in a specific role in a 'new' parliament, Average 65 k x 646 = over £41 million to allocate...maybe a little simplistic but you get the picture

Correction; Vote Labour and you inject this country with a lethal dose of poison, in other words, you give this country terminal cancer that has been building for the last 13 years, spreading from head to toe

Hear Hear!!

hear hear hear, fucking lying scum this lot. tory for me.

The tories are even bigger bullshitters. Members of the Bullingdon Club who have the audacity to claim they know and care about the plight of the average working person. For those who don't know what the Bullingdon Club is, basically, they went around destroying things for fun just because they could afford to pay for the damages. Davy (who is related to the Queen - and who allegedly received political favours during his early career courtesy of Buckingham Palace) Cameron and George Osborne were both members. They'd spend more in one pissed up damage orgy than most people make in a year. Yeah, they're down with the proles. After all, they want us to hug a hoodie. Word.

For those who still think Labour is the party of the working class (whatever that is), it is worth pointing out that the manufacturing industry in this country as part of GDP has fallen more under Labour than at any other time.
