Halloween scared the shit out of me when I first watched that aged about 12.

Stand By me - truly exceptional. More than any other film, this has got better over the years. When I first saw it, I enjoyed it but I've watched it many times since and each time I just love the feel of it even more. Outstanding performances from the four kids, great use of locations and a hard-hitting coming-of-age story all wrapped up in less than 90 minutes.
When I wrote my first book, it was this film more than any other that I used for inspiration and tone.
Amazing to think that two short stories from the same Stephen King book have become two of the most loved films of all time.
My number 1 film gone in 45th spot. Slightly disapointed it isnt higher. Two of my top three in there. Oh well.
I've probably watched it 200 times and it still leaves me feeling the same way at the end when he's typing on his computer every single time. For me its just the perfect film and even though its set in America in the 50's it reminds me of my own childhood so much and the freinds i had.Stand By me - truly exceptional. Yes, I think you summed it up perfectly - it may be set in a different time and place, and OK, none of us found a dead body (I assume!), but it captures that whole nostalgic summer/outdoors feel better than any other film.I've probably watched it 200 times and it still leaves me feeling the same way at the end when he's typing on his computer every single time. One of my picks too and my favourite Stephen King adaptation. Loved the short story even more.Stand By me - truly exceptional. More than any other film, this has got better over the years. It would have made a fine top 10 I think. I am surprised that only 4 of us voted for it.My number 1 film gone in 45th spot. Slightly disapointed it isnt higher.
