So that's Laporte, Jorginho, Mahrez and Sané that will get the whole summer off. Could benefit us in the first few weeks of the season.

Weird decision but Germany don't play to Sane's strengths at all but this is still weird, considering the damage Sane can do alone. This might come back to bite them as he could have helped them coming off the bench. Still, he will be back fresh for us and that's all we care about.

Chelsea - Luiz, Bakayoko, Barkley, Morata, Fabregas, Pedro, Alonso

Sane not going to World Cup is a real bonus for us.
1. He’ll be ready for the start of the season when other teams big players will be eased back in due to truncated preseason
2. He’ll have a point to prove
3. Might be doing the lad a disservice here but of all our young players, I think Sane is the most likely to get an agent in his ear and start acting up. If he’d had a great World Cup then this could have had him getting ahead of himself.

To be honest, every time I’ve watched Sané for Germany he’s looked awful. Disinterested and not making any runs. Granted, I think I’ve only watched him for Germany 3 or 4 times, but each performance was the same.

Good news for City. He’ll stay fresh, won’t get injured, and you’d like to think he’ll come back realising he still needs to work hard.

You could apply that statement to Ozil, but in club football as well
