Blues in the Stretford End ‘92

There were alway blues in their end back in those days because you got tickets from your mate or a tout. In the derby where Giggs scored on his debut there was a chant of “City” went up from the Stratford seated area which was hilarious because they were all looking round going mad trying to see where it came from but we were spread throughout the stand.

I was one of those in the seats at the top of the Stretford End that day, C stand if I remember correctly.
There was about 20 of us from Heywood and when we were Chanting "City City" the Stretford end starting singing " C stand sort em out, C stand, C stand sort em out".
We knew the risks and were prepared for battle but can honestly say not 1 rag had a physical go at us.
Ps Hendrie scored their goal, not Giggs.
Hated the way he got the glory for it

I was in those seats too and had blues next to me. We showed each other our pin badges and laughed. You’re exactly right now I remember, the Stratford end did sing that too, and you’re dead right that there were no punches thrown. If we’d scored I suspect half that stand would have gone up and there would have been a right kick off.

Yeah more than likely.
A couple of Heywood rags got onto us at the bar at half time saying "wtf are you lot doing in here". We laughed at them and in doing so gained our only little "victory" that day

I was most definately in there that night, friend from where I worked at the time got the tickets, to this day I have no idea how or where he and the others got the tickets ! It was a mixed bunch of Blues, a few 'Lads' up ferrit but mostly just regular fans, at one stage we were the only fans singing in the ground, which was surreal as we were completely surrounded by (mostly) indifferent united fans, remember thinking whens it going to kick off ? But it didn't except for a couple of minor scuffles around the edges. I estimated that there were over a hundred City stood there but some were very quiet but obvious Blues..... Happy days

This ridiculously crap screen shot off youtube is a 16 year old me in the main stand paddock after Brightwell ‘just wellied it’.
Instinct made me shoot my arms in the air.
Fear made me put them right down.
Bravery made me shoot them back up when i realised there was quite a fee blues around me.

I was also in the main stand paddock when Brightwell just wellied it. We had bought tickets from a tout outside.. from memory we paid £30 which was a lot of dosh back then. I remember there were about 50 blues congregated together singing and shouting throughout. We were right behind the flight of the ball when he wellied it and so had a great view of it flying in. We were never touched by any rage, altho I recall be a bit careful getting out in case of of them tried picking us off..

Brother and several mates in the United Rd paddock, all game lads chanted and celebrated goal. None of United's finest went near them.
