bnp have an elected mep

According to reports the BNP, particularly in the North, are pulling support away from traditional Labour voters! How the hell is this happening seeing as they are supposedly from opposite ends of the political spectrum?

Lets see if they deliver on their promises and represent their constituents before we get all Guardianesque about them.

Do you mean return/repatriate their constituents?

No, they will not be able to do that. I mean will they be present at clinics, will they listen to their constituents, will they ask the questions WE the electorate want answering, that kind of things. Most people voted BNP as a protest to the self serving pigs who take a lot out and give back very little, yes they have some questionable policies but if you take the racist shit out they also spoke a lot of sense.

i agree with bb2! and i am not a racist! the vast majority of my friends are black/british,jamaican etc but the british jobs for british people is what i agree with!

This just proves how many racist and anti-scemitic people live in this country. Terrible.

to be honest, although i cant vote now and when i do itll never be BMP, but as a legit political party people have every right to vote for them, seeing as labour are cocking everything up ATM. end of the day people have freedom of speech in this country, and although i dont agree with the BMP message, people are denying them freedom of speech which isnt correct. so what if they have ONE seat? that means people want change in this country and nick griffin isnt exactly hitler and gonna kill every jew gypsy and every none pure citizen.

just my opinion, feel free to bite my head off

That's putting it mildly, would you describe Hitler as intelligent?

Hitler was highly intelligent.

So is Shipman in that case, how can you describe someone intelligent if they can not function in the society that they live in?

Don't get me wrong Dannyb, I'm no Hitler fan - No chance, but clearly he was an intelligent man. I've always thought of him as being the equivalent of the intelligent but pale, skinny, heavy metal loving, nerdy kid at school who got bullied for years, then finally snaps and goes fuckin mental with a machine gun.

I agree and think The BNP have made big inroads because a section of our society feel them to be the best party to represent their views.

I've had a gut-feeling that the BNP would do well in North Manchester (Moston, Harpurhey, Collyhurst etc) for a couple of years now as the political classes have totally given up on these areas.

The fact is they've been elected, and they've been elected fair and square, and you have to respect the views of the ballot box. You may not agree with it, but that is the way of democracy in this country

the racist bastids have won yorkshire and humber?
andrew brons has won bnp's first seat in european parliament. How long will he last, sat next to all those foriegn m.p's?

I think you will find that sadly he was democraticly elected by "racist bastids".

so everyone who votes bnp are rascist?? get a grip you knob?

No,not everyone who voted for the BNP is racist.
Some undoubtedly are, others are incredibly stupid and quite a lot of 'em are both.
But a considerable amount voted that way because,(rightly or wrongly),they see the rampant corruption, deceit and fraudulence that has given the conventional "3 party system" such a bad name and no longer have any faith in the current discredited fiasco.
It is,effectively,a massive "fuck you" to Parliament - coupled with an even more apathetic turnout than usual, and as such is in many ways a protest vote.
Not the way I would choose to object, but an object lesson to the Commons that if they don't rid themselves of the stigma of sleaze, then it will return to bite them on the arse come election time.
Thankfully,I don't think that this will be carried forward to a General Election, but the warning signs are clear for all to see.
It pains me to even give that repulsive turd Griffin headspace, let alone seeing him and his grinning babboon supporters on the steps of Manchester town hall.
People should take this as a wake-up call as to what can happen when people feel powerless and disenfranchised by mainstream politics.
They will inevitably resort to extremes, and the only beneficiaries are those on the fringes of the political process, such as Griffin and his odious cohorts.
If we don't want this repeated, then the answer is to de-select any constituency MP tarnished by the current scandal, get involved in local politics at grassroots level or just make sure you actually bother to vote,as its often those who can't be arsed who moan the loudest when we get saddled with a bunch of corrupt numpties.

Good post but it does make me wonder why griffin hasn't been given the same treatment over his dubious financial dealings that were reported last week as the rest of 'em.

I don't think that the bnp success can be put down to 'protest voting'. It's clear for all to see that this country is becoming more racist by the week. Every time i go out i hear "Paki" this and "immigrant" that. I work with the public and can guarantee that one of my customers will come out with some bigoted shite every day.
I've just come back from the pub and the talk was of the carnival that was held on Saturday. The only talking point was, "That Paki band". The fact that the band was full of young kids and came from Bolton to perform in the pissing rain (and were pretty damn good an' all) was lost on the vast majority of them.
I'm sick to death of hearing that kind of shit from people who spend all their giro in the pub every day. I'd rather have a country full of hard working immigrants than a load of self righteous and small minded bnp sympathisers.
