Bobby Charlton has passed away, aged 86

My dad is in the later stages of Alzheimer's, it's an awful illness. His family have my sympathy.

Yep. My mum had it for her last couple of years. Heartbreaking to witness someone you love slowly forgetting everything they knew, including who you are. I don't envy Bobby's family what awaits them.

Awful illness. Very sad news. Can't help but wonder about those Casey's that these guys were heading throughout their career. The Astle family campaign has got it right I feel.

Horrible disease. My gran suffered from it in the last years of her life.

It's now more than five years since Stan Bowles was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

It's a horrible thing for anyone to witness. I did with my grandmother and uncle.

I never warmed to the guy but wouldn't wish it on anyone. Wish him and his family all the best.

Whether you like Booby Charlton or not, he has always seemed (to me) to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, he never recovered from being in that plane where many of his team mates perished, including our own Frank Swift. Very sad news.
