Bobby cranking it up...?

starting to wonder why we bought edin. anyone who has seen him score on tv. youtube whatever will notice he scores from crosses. when do we cross the ball. with silva and tevez and yaya we seem to play through the middle most of the time. guess he was hoping kolarov and boating would overlap and cross the ball. hmm. boating is a cb and the jury is still out on kolarov. maybe next season we will see him play better in a different system as i still think tevez will be going and that is why we bought him in the first place. we will see.

Mancini is criticising his players here for playing the way he ha had them playing all season...its been drilled into the players to play the ball through the middle all season....when aj was ont he pitch he used to cut inside, swp last night was roaming all over the pitc, swapping sides, in the middle, dzeko pulling wide.....this is clearly the way the players have been instructed to play.....and then he comes out and says he wants them to play differently

sorry but it is RM that needs to give the players time if they are to adapt to playing his way

the fullbacks arent giving the width in the game either that RM now requires

he is trying to build a new system around dzeko and at present it isnt working, dzeko aint upto speed and the other players are finding it hard to adapt to him

I think dzeko needs to start from the bench a bit more and come on when games are going well....especially if balo is now up and running as he and tev (and the other players) seemed to gel quite easily before he got injured

SWP had the ball out wide many times, every time he tried to beat his man he lost it. As far as i can remember he didn't actually roam that much and spent the majority of his time on the right side of the pitch. He just failed to get any balls into the box.

then why was he picking the ball up out of efence onn numerous occasions on the let hand side....why was he in the middle of the pitch on occasions in the first half....watch hwat the players are doing when they DONT have the ball as well as when they do have the ball...that will give you a clue to the way they are being told to play

swp was at least trying to give width and beat a man....what about kolorov, richards zabba...none of these players provided any crosses either

swp being used as a bit of a scapegoat by a manager who has kept im on the sidelines all season.....the lad needs chance to get back into his stride....tell him to stay wide and he will....he was playing the way RM has been instructing the team all season to do so!

Were you watching the same game?

You then name 3 full backs to compare with SWP who funnily enough is a WINGER.

It's hardly scapegoat time but SWP was woeful again.

He regularly had the ball in wide positions on the right hand side and failed to do anything at all with it. The one thing that leapt out at me straight after the match, before Mancini said anything at all, was that i couldn't remember us getting a single cross in from the right-side. That's not good enough, and it's not because we didn't get the ball out wide to a winger on the right side, because we did, repeatedly.

How are we going to get the best out of Dzeko when we play without width and little creativity, both him and Tevez were found wandering in midfield for much of the game in the hope of getting on the ball.

Injuries and a lack of quality personnel are a large factor, however, this current system is not playing to our strengths.

I'm surprised Mancini was reportedly so critical of SWP.

I mean, it's not as if he's had a wonderful season so far and last night was just an off night.

SWP has "lost it" for the past 12 months, I know it, everyone on this board knows it... yet seemingly Mancini is still under the impression that he can get a performamnce out of Shaunny.

He can't. He's lost his pace, he's lost his confidence, he needs to be moved on.

We should have bought a winger/wide midfielder in the January window (Pienaar?). Everyone surely knew that?

It's a bad sign when the manager starts singling out players for criticism (if that's what he did...) and blaming the pitch...

Easy to criticise SWP but Dzeko has been a fcking massive disappointment so far. He showed glimpses last night but he still looks off the pace to me. I was expecting a superstar the way some on here were going on about him for months before we signed him. I havent seen evidence of that yet.
