Not sure but it isn't nice.
Think they mean pilau. When you get cardamon seeds/pods in it. Never, ever bite into one. It's like chewing on a bar of soap. Only there for the 'fragrance' and not to be eaten! Cumin seeds are nice, though.
Oh, boiled/steamed for me. Not big into fried rice unless it's special fried rice from the Chinese take away with curry sauce, yums. (Happy House on Cheadle Road does ace curry, it's all coconutty!)

well I won't ask what your partners are fed on - or what your 'MO' is, ehehe

my old flatmate from university whose family used to run a Chinese down in London used to never order fried rice in a restaurant; his reason - they recycle the old stuff left over from the previous day's service, because you can heat it up alright in the wok and serve it again reconstituted. However, if you order boiled rice it always has to be prepared and served fresh. So now you know - aren't you glad? (Not that I'd worry; even if it's a day old but it's been properly kept, so what?)

personally I usually prefer it plain, Japanese style. They don't adulterate their rice as it almost carries a religious significance. In fact, if you're served a bowl of rice (as they always come before and with meals) in a traditional Japanese restaurant and you pour some soy over it, they'll come and give you another 'fresh' bowl thinking that you mistakenly spilt something in it!

Boiled rice all the time except when eating a curry, then it has to be Pilau, yummy!!

Funninly enough, there are not many days in a week when i dont eat rice, i have it with everything!!
