Bolton Wanderers debt

May 2012

He (Gartside) confirmed that owner Eddie Davies remains 100 percent committed to backing the Wanderers, with the club having no significant bank debt.

A staggering mess, and they owe Gartside £151m, hopefully if Bolton go bust, they'll take him with them, though I'd prefer him to go bust and Bolton to somehow pull through, I've nothing against their fans, just him.
Agreed. You can't really blame the fans for what the owners of their clubs say/do.*

* Unless it's the rags, Arsenal or Liverpool

Was he the one who Big Dunc had by the throat one afternoon down Goodison?
That's very good Debe, very very good.

(For the kids: The Leicester player having his eyes squeezed out of his head is called Steffen Freund)

How can any business be in that much debt and still in business? (I understand the rags as they are making enough each year to service the debt, but Bolton??)
People talk about the banks crippling the economy but if all the clubs in debt had their debt added up....... where has that money come from for them to be able to function?

People may have seen his over enthusiastic celebrations in the Spurs dugout with AVB, until AVB annoyed him!

How on earth did Bolton get so much in debt? It doesn't make sense. Their wages were always 12-13th or so and they were getting 50+m TV rights every season, not to mention the parachute payments and stadium sponsorship. Apart from the Elmander signing (pretty sure it was close to 10m) I can't ever remember them splashing much cash

I like the bit near the top :-

the unprecedented events the club faced

Their history in the PL was :- 16th, 17th, 8th, 8th, 7th, 16th, 13th, 14th, 14th & 18th (I think I'm missing 1 there somewhere). How can it possibly be unprecedented if excepting a 3 year period they've flirted with relegation each season? Was he not aware that 3 clubs get relegated each year?

In fairness he said 'unprecedented', not 'unexpected'! ;-)
