The guy looks seriously ill.

Bono provokes debate from lots of people.

For me, U2's albums of War, The Unforgettable Fire & The Joshua Tree are masterpieces

Achtung Baby & Rattle and Hum are critically acclaimed

Bono as a frontman - is a very good frontman, in the 80's, lots of energy and charismatic

Then, all of a sudden he believed his own hype, dosappeared up his own arse and became grating and tiresome.

Wouldn't be surprised (on appearance) if he is one of this years celebrity deaths

Early u2 were brilliant. Great songs and a fresh sound, and they could play.
For me they quickly became tiresomely repetitive, and other bands came along with more to offer and more to say which easily led my interest away from an increasingly commercial u2.
I'd never slag them, but they became old before there time because they chased the dollar. They've become the rolling stones far earlier than they expected.
They're a band who think they're better than they actually are, the hype exceeds the talent, and they've always known how to get the maximum amount of £ per fan.
Fair play to them, but I could list a few bands with a better moral compass, despite bonos preachings.
That said, he is a great front man, and his vocals make u2, I hope he is OK

watched Bono and the Edge a sort of homecoming with Dave Lettermen earlier tonight and quite enjoyed it. Loved their early stuff growing up and The Unforgettable Fire first album I bought.

he went a bit too up his own arse for my liking but fair play that they’ve stuck together for nearly 50 years.

Boy was a great album.

Great great band

Don’t get the bandwagon hate for Bono.
The only things I know about him are that he’s in U2, he’s Irish and at one time Oasis didn’t let him backstage at one of their gigs but years later Noel is mates with him.

Not sure if it’s hate for Bono. You‘re going to turn a lot of fans in such a long time frame with the extreme shifts from post punk to political to commercial to evangelical and then pop/glam rock around zooropa.

far too much Christian imagery in the lyrics for me on his later stuff which is ok for his personal background but some of it felt preachy, I always expected to him come on stage in the Popemobile.
