I"m not the one who is pissed off at other people having an opinion that the champions League isn't great. In what part of my post was I telling other people how to think?
I was writing an opinion. Isn’t that what this forum is for? Don’t get arsey because you don’t agree with my opinion. Read the reply below yours from Urban Genie. That’s a proper response.
Bang on the money there. We are a top club in europe whether we win this or not , you really think a competition where the 2 finalists finished 3rd and 4th and haven't won a league title for 29 and 59 years respectively is a measure of greatness.
It's a knock out competition that was devalued as a serious test of european champions as soon as they opened it up to non champions and made it a cash cow for the elite teams.
I want to win it, but I have no respect for it
The biggest club cup competition maybe, but the biggest thing you can win is your own league - I think the last 3 or 4 winners of the CL weren't the best team in their own league. I wouldn't boo the anthem myself as I genuinely don't get it, but each to their own.The booing is one thing (personally I think it’s had it’s day), it’s more the fans saying they aren’t interested in the competition that get on my tits.
As I’ve said in an earlier post, the rest of the continent couldn’t care less if we aren’t interested, everyone else is because it’s the biggest club competition that you can win.
I wonder if the Chelsea and Arsenal fans attending will start booing the Europa League final due to a split allocation of 12,000 tickets from a total of 68,700. Having said that, you probably wouldn't be able to hear them over the chomping of prawn sandwiches.
The upper echelons don't give a single fuck about the fans so I, for one, will continue to show my displeasure at Champions League games.
Fuck em.
