Boris Johnson

Not arguing with that!

It’s funny because I’ve always understood why people admired and respected Thatcher so much, even though I disagreed with her politics and think she has caused so much long term damage to our country.

On the other hand, I think anyone who still admires Johnson is such a poor judge of character that it renders their opinions on pretty much anything to be utterly worthless. There is so much evidence about his shortcomings as a person (as oppose to any shortcomings as a politician) that anyone who cannot evaluate him for what he truly is, simply isn’t capable of rational thought on the subject, or anything else most likely.

The scruffy fat **** is a national embarrassment.
Just to be serious for a moment, I do recall your reaction to his speech introducing lockdown struck a more sympathetic tone. Boris didn't worry me too much until he described Roger Scruton (also a favourite of Victor Orban) as “the greatest modern conservative thinker”. Roger was a clever and admirable man but his ideas have proved dangerous tools for the right.

fuck me the promotional team for his book tour are absolutely shit aren't they? Did they think Beth Rigby would agree to this

What I thought about Johnson in March 2020 is irrelevant, although it was still mainly negative. The fact it’s far more negative now, having properly watched him in action, is what’s relevant.

Of course they didn't, but they probably realised she'd put out that tweet and therefore advertise his book for free. He'll probably only sell a few hundred copies to fans, but if he can market it to people who hate him so they can excitedly red pen and retweet lies out of it sales will go through the roof and he makes a fortune. Genius really.

A bit like this forum. :-)

I mention it because it surprised me at the time and was very much against the flow of opinion about him that prevailed on here then and indeed since. Maybe you were giving him the benefit of the doubt as you're doing now with Starmer, which is definitely the fairest course. I hope he turns out to be more deserving of your restraint in the light of future events.

Listened to his interview with Matt Chorley on 5 Live earlier. Usual bollocks - known lies not challenged back - when he thought he needed it revert to "matey mode" - " Yes Matt I remember your cheery face staring down at me in PMQ's " and when confronted with awkward truths just deflect deflect deflect .... I suspect this will do only marginally better than the Liz Truss fantasy ramblings and the Mad Nads fiction

Ferrari has always maintained he isn't a Tory nor is he a Johnson fanboy ...........

It really should have been either James O'Brien or maybe Andrew Marr doing the interview. Ferrari is never well enough briefe to challenge stuff off the cuff. Although I suspect Johnson wouldn't have agreed to the interview if he was going to get properly challenged.
