Boro Post Match thread

I thought yesterday was the low point in the season tbh.

Pep's tactics were horrendous.

I don't care if he adjusted at half time. At that stage the damage was done as we wasted 45 minutes with Clichy doing absolutely nothing and stagnating any push forward.

Kun & Jesus couldn't get a sniff and Kev was far too advanced, taking himself out of the game.

So half time came and he hooked Clichy thankfully, but hung Aleix Garcia out to dry. Garcia wasn't the problem, the formation was. I get that it didn't work, but it was plain as day never going to.

Second half we looked far better without looking better if that makes any sense. All the possession but we really struggled to create anything of merit.

The only high point for me was Kun's assist, it really was a great ball. Jesus took it well, but overall Boro did a good job on our forwards.

We're struggling massively in midfield and the full back issue is a joke. Nobody is going to convince me Angelino or Zincenko couldn't have done better this season in that role.

I agree.

Neither have been good enough for loan teams in lesser leagues.

Our youngsters are always "good enough" for some until they actually play.

Considering the season Clichy has had, I'd have much preferred seeing a kid struggle and learn as opposed to seeing a multiple trophy winner embarrass his legacy like Gael has. We literally earned nothing from playing him. At least if a kid had those performances, we'd have benefited down the line or even if selling them.

That's completely impractical. We are paying Clichy north of £100,000 a week to play and having him sit and be full time DJ isn't doing anything for his legacy or career either.

And get this, we have people in this very thread moaning every time Pep plays a youngster and it doesn't work out for them.

Pep doesn't have the squad he needs, that much is clear. Rotation is healthy and absolutely essential over the course of a long season. That our squad is wafer thin and held together by a spine of over-thin, over-aged players from his predecessor's predecessor isn't Pep's fault.

Had we had some luck with injuries and the Bravo transfer had worked out, we'd have probably covered over the ageing squad for 1 more season, but it was not to be. We need to limp over the line, and make the changes in the Summer. It's obvious the problems we have are related to ageing players and yet a lot of fans want to blame Guardiola for every poor result.
