Borussia Mönchengladbach travel thread

Found a flight from Manc to cologne 30th - 2nd for £115. Bit of advice as its my first ever European away game. I'll be on my todd for it i imagine, so just wondering if there's many who travel on their own to away days in Europe? I presume its a giant piss up in bars so cant imagine ill be struggling for places to drink.

When we played Madrid in 2012 I travelled on my own with Spike and got chatting to people on the plane and ended up staying with them the rest of the day drinking just off the main square.

For Dortmund away that year I travelled independently and wandered into a bar on match day full of Dortmund and City fans and had a great time. It's easy to meet fellow blues.

is it ok for trains back after the game?

I saw them play Zurich in the Europa League last year and they held trains to both Dusseldorf and Cologne to allow the Zurich supporters (and me) to get back afterwards.

There is nothing around the ground and it takes 20 mins on the bus from the hauptbahnhof. I'd advise buying a few beers at the station to take with you. Didn't see much of the city (I don't think there's much to see anyway) but I'd advise staying in Dusseldorf. Regional trains from there to Mönchengladbach are free with your match ticket.
