Borussia Monchengladbach (H) | Post Match Thread

maybe i did come across a little bit over the top and a killjoy ?
but i want to try and keep my feet on the ground and not over hype it to much but yes we are a great team
lets listen to pep and take it one game at a time and its not the time to gloat when the job is not finished

I think tonight is probably our strongest first 11 the way we play. Would love Aguero to be part of that but not so sure he is anymore.
Looked like Aguero was brought on when we had moved into our 'neutral' gear. The game was done and we were in keep-ball mode.

He complained (allegedly) about no-one passing to him and he was right. Sterling's cameo was atrocious and FFS could have gone down the tunnel playing keepy-uppy with the ball, he wasn't going to pass to anyone let alone Sergio (although he could and should have scored at least one).

My opinion Zin is a better fit at left back than Cancelo, but Monchengladbach were so poor going forward down their right last night that even Mendy would have had very little to do. Looking forward to the draw now.

That is about as good as you can get in terms of a performance. We looked energised and slick from the start and every player was relentless. If you were picky you could say Mahrez could have passed to others who were in a better position, but to be honest for me that isn't the issue with him. He looks a lot more confident now in what he's doing and that's a big thing. He may still take a shot on when he shouldn't, or delay a pass, but he's much more dangerous in this mood and will create/score more now than he has done previously. And he's tracking back too, so just let him get on with it. Two wonderful goals and the move for the second was a thing of beauty - the pass out from Stones and Foden has such balance, vision and an eye for a pass at his young age. A couple of half chances for them but we gave little away. Sterling will be back, he needs to relax a bit. I don't want to get carried away, let's just keep on playing in the same way but that was excellent tonight.

We looked great going forward but not as solid defensively as we were doing a few weeks ago which is a bit of a concern. A better quality CL team would have scored a few against us last night.

I completely agree I think there are quite a few getting carried away. The defensive failing of previous seasons were there last night although went unpunished from a side raft of confidence and on a bad run.
