Bournemouth (A) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Seems to be becoming a habit of these stupid weak cross field passes which are intercepted and the opponent scores. Who was it who gifted the opponent a goal a few weeks ago doing exactly the same pass?

am I being a mard-arse being pissed off at the seemingly constant 'edge' in comments from broadcasters? Latest example, post-match Cherries...

"Hi Pep, well done, so what do you think 'pulled you through' that?"

To which Pep should have said... "Oh I don't know, maybe what scrawped you through your journalism qualifications, so you tell me."
...or, we were the better side and they didnt have a shot on target in the 54 mins in the second half... or...

I'm confident we will beat either of them in the final. Palace have never won a trophy, and Villa's last FA Cup win was in 1957.
You sound like a cricket commentator, history means nothing. Forest won the European Cup twice, and Villa did win it too. But it is all about next month or two. Anything can happen.

Last thing we needed was Jack having shots with 6 minutes to go, keep the ball, knock it back and keep it. Jack brings a control to our game that nobody else can.
We're not capable of keeping the ball. Better to try to score another than play keep ball until they break.

Atwell is, was and always will be a useless twst. Got the penalty right but allowed Bournemouth tons of little fouls that were never punished. Took him way too long to book any of them. Also missed the foul on Haaland that injured him.

On Haaland, wasn’t at his best but at least he scored. I’m convinced that whenever that the longer he takes over a penalty the greater the chance he misses it. Hopefully he won’t be out long and the boot is precautionary.
Unless I missed something, he didn't give us a free kick until the 41st min.

He also refused a couple of shots at goal.Took the wrong option with passing instead of shooting.
Did well though.
KDB controlled the second half brilliantly for us and Gundoghan and O'Reilly did great as well.
O'Reilly our player of the tournament so far.
Passed - didn't lose possession.

Shoot - 50% chance lose possession.

We played well in the 1st half and really really well in the 2nd
We didn't play at all well in the first half. We got a penalty, a deflected through ball by their own player and a good cross by nunes to haaland, we also conceded. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

If history means nothing, why have both of these teams not won the FA Cup in the last 68 years? If City do get to the final, I know where my money is going.

Whilst we should have scored at least a couple in the first half the difference in the performance in each half was huge.

Second half was a confident and assured performance and we looked much more like ourselves. KDB, Gundo and Bernardo excellent (shades of the 4-0 performance against Newcastle). The impact of O’Reilly was excellent, his pace and energy seemed to be the catalyst, and he was great defensively. Gvardiol showed he’s not forgotten how to play centre back.

Grealish showed what we have been missing with the control he provides to the team (wish he would take a shot though!)

All in all every sub contributed when they came on.

Will give credit to Nunes, he dug in and out in a good performance. It would be nice if he could do that without any dropped bollocks first though.

All in all that second half gives belief that we can finish the season with a bit of impetus - food for thought for Pep with regards O’Reilly - can he not start him on Saturday after that today?

Too old and slow in midfield until Nico came on thank god!!
Pep please play two Nicos in midfield

I'm not sure refs waiting for VAR to clear the penalty decision explains it, but allowing defenders and keepers to argue and to delay the restart doesn't help the taker.
