Bournemouth (A) | Post Match Thread

Before the game started, I wanted three points. After we scored I wanted more goals. At four up I wanted a clean sheet. Two out of three isn't too bad.
Thought we were good first half, a few stray passes here and there and a few hanging onto the ball when they should have passed but overall I was happy. Not so so happy but happy.
Second half ok but the changes caused a bit of disruption. Not going to complain about the subs though, four up is the time to make them and save the legs of those who have.played a lot this season.
Well done City.

I thought it was similar to the Forest game. We were very dominant and played some great football. The difference today is we were clinical. I think we're starting to get it together now and if we can go on a run we've got a good chance of winning it. A fully fit and in form Foden is a serious game changer for us.

Chance wise we created lots and should probably have scored another 2.
But that game and last week are why we will struggle to win the league this season - the lack of clean sheets is killing us.
Dias mistake today - which is unusual - but just a sign of the way things are at the back.

Subs not unnecessary- we need to protect players when we’ve so many games coming up. If Pep hadn’t made the subs when 3-0 up & the players had been injured he’d have been criticised for not using them

Agree re last 20 minutes. The main quality players weren’t there. Haaland; Grealish; Rodri; Gundog; Ake; & of course -KDB

Great win. On to the FA cup now.
It’s great to have the luxury of a 4 goal lead so we can make those substitutions though.
Goals win games, but being clinical in the first half in particular means Pep can try players and see if they are up to it.
Gets experience into them for the next time needed too.

Used to be that when we put the ball in the fridge 4-0 up the opposition never saw it until final whistle. This season is a total opposite. Yes we coasted, conserved energy, made lots of subs, took our foot off the gas but the last 30 minutes was not what at the levels we should be at in terms of ball retention and defensive solidity.
First half was excellent, went at them with purpose and energy and moved the ball fluidly around the pitch and created excellent opportunities through good pressing and accurate passing. Damage was already done at 4-0 but oh boy, the drop off in our levels was eye-catching.

Not on my tv ; )
I used to play cricket when I was younger at a pretty good standard, had a trial for Lancashire boys.
But I can't watch......I do watch the ashes though.
Fair enough. I love this NZ tour - cricket at night after a few beers, after a city win and a scouse loss (hopefully)...lovely stuff

Hairy nonce hands on Bein commenting on Haaland being City's leading goalscorer already. Gray says " you're doing something right if you're ahead of Aguero."

Mr velcro counters by saying he's in the same company as Lee(one) pen, that Of his 33 goals that season, 15 pens shouldn't have counted.

****.
Do daughters friends count when you’re counting sexual partners?

Superb response after a tricky week. Alvarez needs a run in the side and showed why he is so good. Liked how we look to move the ball forwards a lot quicker in that first 70 minutes and really helped not only getting Haaland into the game but also our overall attack.

Good to get some minutes into a few as well who will no doubt feature in the cup.

Loads of positives today. IMO the starting eleven is probably our best team at the moment. Lots of positive energy from Lewis and Alvarez in particular.

Good to see Perrone get a run out. Certainly didn't let himself down.

Bournemouth were ideal fodder for us to get Phil back into action, and he delivered the goods. Not 100% yet, but getting there.

Concerns...
Switching off defensively is unacceptable, no matter how far ahead we are.
Walker looks done. Can't see him holding down the RB slot much longer.
Phillips... Bloody hell. He looked like a 'play for City' raffle winner. Hopeless.

Top class performance, put it to bed early and were able to coast and rest a few players in the 2nd half for bigger tests to come.

Always nice to see our strikers get on the score sheet and great to see Phil score and have a real impact.

PS how desperate was that fucking commentator to attribute our late game stroll around with half a real team playing to deep underlying problems. Twat !
