Bournemouth (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Or perhaps at 3-1 Pep decided that game management was the most effective way of seeing the game out?

Pretty sure he was also anticipating a push from Bournemouth as the game was coming to a close, and we were still a threat in spite of our "easing off".
You are probably right about the last 20 minutes ,but still you have to say that pressing isnt the same it used to be and thats probably one of the reasons city aren´t controlling the games and possesion as well as they used to. Probably just my thing that you feel much comfortable of holding the lead ,when you have the ball than the other way around :) no Rodri/ferna , David and Kevin in midfield anymore ,might be something to do with that.

I suspect there are still players who are not up to full fitness, Cherky for instance, or carrying bits of injuries.

The whole performance against a very decent side, was the best I have seen from the team this season and gives me optimism for the future.

Hopefully, I will be right, but it's all about opinions and I've got much wrong over the years !

It's really easy to be complimentary about opponents when you win, but I sense the respect for Bournemouth is totally genuine. Who knows what Pep will do in the summer, but if he decides it's time then Iraola could be the man for the job. Personally I'm hoping for Vinny at some point, but now I'm hearing he's just renewed with Bayern. Then again Pep could decide 3 more years, whatever happens we're still living the football dream. Onwards and Upwatds...
I think that whenever we come calling for Vinny he will come regardless of his current managerial role.

i hope so too. Got too used to winning and seeing one of the best football ever, week in, week out for a few years :D Could get back to it or near it with a great summer window in 2026.

Has anyone come out and said why arm wrestling the keeper was allowed, we couldn’t see it in the south stand, saw it when I git home it’s fucking diabolical VAR did fuck all.
If it was any of the red shite it would have been shouted from the rooftops all week from the media until PIgmol crawl out with a snivelling apology.

At City we just get commentators saying we are too soft

You don’t even need to read the thread when we win…..20 pages says it all!! It would be 160 if we lost…..

Happy with the result and performance. Great performances all over the pitch so difficult to pick individuals out but here goes….Cherki was sublime at times, great runs, great positions, some sublime passes. Haaland was in beast mode and the only surprise was he only bagged two… NOR was excellent, and fully deserved his goal, Gonzalez was imperious in the middle…very good vibes already from this young lad….Nunes had an excellent game and kept Yo Semen quiet most of the time….

Onwards blues !

Really enjoyed the game yesterday. First of all, huge credit goes to a very good Bournemouth team who came to play football, not stifle the game, not deep block hoping they would nick a point. A team who had a game of football with us so fair play to them. They will cause many a problem this season. I like their manager and he would be on my short list to replace Pep whenever that may be.
Standouts for me were Nico G. Best game in a city short since he joined us. Nunes despite having a real hard time last season is starting to show why Pep trusts him at right back. We still need a long term replacement at right back. Nico O'reilly. Such a great performance. Only criticism from me is not to jump in and sell himself when the opposition are breaking.
No complaints though. Superb performance
