Boyata in the derby?

Fantastic in all departments today, the complete package and definately a more complete player and a more natural player than Richards and even if Richards is fit I'd still play Boyata(not a dig at Richards but I think boyata is the best rightback at our club). He's always impressed me especially the way he came into the side to play two of the biggest games of our season last year and seemed relatively unfazed by the ocasion and played fantastic. He's made a couple of mistakes along the way but that can only make him stronger and I really hope he gets the nod on the 16th. Wow, how I'm up for this game now cmon city!!!!!!

He played well today but calm down.

For me:

1) Richards
2) Zab
3) Boateng
4) Boyata

While Zab is a more solid choice who would you trust more Kolarov or Boyata?

I have no doubt that Boyata is more worthy of our trust.

At LB, Kolarov.

Phrased poorly.

Zabaleta CB CB Kolarov

Or

Boyata CB CB Zabaleta

He should be our third choice centre back (all be it we need to keep hold of onuoha), but right back i dont think so! Hes uncomfortable on the ball and is not really an attacking threat, lets be honest he had the touch of a rapist when he was sprinting forward on the attack today still fair play to him for willing to come forward with the ball and wanting to attack, but he could challenge for a centre back position, definitely a future prospect.

weren't the CC games last season his first 2 starts? He was far from shocking in those matches, he did a job.

Just seems like typical fans overreaction to me.We have a game where the opposition have a poor day and the right back is virtually not tested and yet I keep hearing on here words like class, brilliant, fantastic.

Yes he did ok but there were a few occasions where his positioning wasnt great and he didn't really get forward much to help AJ did he? ( probably was told to stay at home at leave AJ to it to be fair)That time he did get forward he got a nose bleed and didnt know what to do.

I like Boyata but along with a few others he is 3rd or probably 4th in line for a full back role.We can get by with him there but he is a centre half and not a full back.

To say he is the best right back at the club is quite over the top. That would be Richards, Boyata has got quite a way to go before we say he's better than Richards. And let's not forget it's not his best position, and he's only played twice there.

One poster said he was poor against United in those semi finals? Well what were you expecting exactly? This was a very inexperienced and undoubtedly nervous young lad who'd been thrown in to one of our biggest games in recent times, with a very, very high amount of pressure. I think he'd only played one game for us before that first semi final. To be fair, he wasn't awful in either game. He did all right, considering the circumstances, and held his own.

I agree that he was very good today, and, if Richards and Zabaleta aren't available, then I would play him in the derby, he's done well at RB so far and I'd actually say I'd be happier with him at RB against United than Boateng (Yes, I know he's injured). Those two cup semi finals that he played against United in last year will do him a lot of good in the long term, and even now, we know he can handle a big occasion like this as we saw it last year.

Richards,needed to combat Nani's and Valencia's pace.

Boyata too inexperienced and Zab was continually roasted last time out.
