Kid looked good to me. A couple of times he looked truly pro (comfortable) and beyond his his years. If he stays grounded could well be a key player in the next few years.
And they say we are going to buy success and neglect the academy kids. My arse.

imo and i might get slated for this but he looks better than micah and ned did when they 1st came into the team, just hope me carrys on improving because if he does they he can become a very special player

I'd honestly pick him over Toure right now... and on merit. Very impressive so far.

he's got a talent, and that's an understatement. a natural defender, much more to his game than clearances. he was incredible in the first half, the adrenaline clearly took it's toll later on.

Yes he played very well. As mentioned by a number of posters, his clearances were not good at all, though clearing our lines was a problem our entire defense had this game. Had we just chucked a few down to VDS, the third goal at least would not have happened. Our outside backs are a problem. Micah looks good going forward, but is chronically out of position defensively. I would have liked to see Toure at some point, but I guess he is still tired from playing in the Africa Cup of Nations. Tevez, as always, is incredible.

I'm definitely warming to a Boyata/Kompany center-half pairing. They're gonna click beautifully in a couple of seasons.

I've thought about it and I'm voting him MOTM for us. I was seriously impressed by his play tonight. He did keep Shrek quiet for most of the game and he's so comfortable on the ball bringing it out of defense. Saw him hold the ball up on the edge of the box because there was no-one to pass to with Shrek bearing down on him. Then he casually slotted it to someone when they became available. Some of our other players could learn from him in that area.

top player in the making. why the fcuk did agent hughes spend stupid money on lescott and toure who have at times looked more like laurel and hardly...

boyata was quality as were vinnie and micah. garrido has a lovely delivery into the box but always comes off second best defensively. we could do with bridge back or, failing that, when he is fit lescott should be shipped out to LB for a bit.

Have to say he was excellent tonight ( as was Kompany), bit of a gamble by Mancini I thought but maybe it was a case of putting him in and seeing how he coped, he came out of the game with great credit and was pretty unlucky with the last goal with him and three red shirts around.
