Boycott The Lass O'Gowrie Pub

Fuckin ell, he sounds as bitter as the ginger dwarf/aka landlord of The Burton on Swan St...

USED to like the pub - however, virtually 4 quid a pint and this story has now relinquished my interest of ever setting foot in there again.
The Burton is a Rag pub where the MIB meet.

Yeah the problem with arson is the complex leagality of it all

This country eh! Cant even burn down a pub anymore. political correctness gone mad.

Yeah i remember the good old days when you could leave your front door open and you knew your next door neighbours, divorce was a sin and you could burn a pub down if the owner was a red

Aye they were t'days

Hello. Lass O'Gowrie here.

I really do think I should post here with a more accurate representation of what happened.

Three gents had bullied a member of my staff into changing over the 42 inch TV at the back, the TV that was being used for the sound on the Liverpool game as there was a fault on the TV. I didn't feel it was fair on the 15-20 Liverpool fans who had been watching the game with sound up to that point to then watch the game in silence to accommodate 3 people who refused to move to the other half of the pub where the game was on on the 100 inch projector. So I turned it back to Liverpool and asked the 3 customers to move who refused and called it totally out of order.

Yes, the City game was on in German commentary. This was the only way the game was available to us, so it would have made no difference where we had shown it. At no point did I say i hate city and love Liverpool, which was a complete fabrication. One of the party, desperate to have the final say kept saying this is Manchester, our game should be on the biggest screen etc etc etc.

Yes, this is Manchester. A global city and we show games for a huge variety of teams. We are not a City pub. Nor are we a United pub, or an Arsenal pub, or a QPR pub.

I'm sorry people feel the need to boycott the pub, but if you do so please do it on accurate information. I'm sorry this customer feels he's been a long-standing customer since 2988, but I've been here since 2005 and don't remember seeing him to be honest. Given he had to ring up to ask how many TV's we had, I suspect he's not been in for a bit.

Best

Gareth

PS: Oh and just in the interests of transparency, this is the email I sent to Danny who emailed today informing us of an organised boycott on the forum.

"Dear Danny,

I really don’t see the problem. The game was on the big screen and all you had to do was move with your 2 friends to join the other 2 city fans in that part of the pub. You’ll also notice that Joshua Brookes next door had City on a small telly and Liverpool on the big projector, but presumably that was less of a problem for you.

We cater for all teams at the lass, not just City or United. It’s a policy that won’t be changing any time soon, although we do look out for City as with this Sunday when the only game that is being shown is Sunderland v City, with Bolton v Birmingham, Villa v Everton and Liverpool v West Brom being bumped as a consequence.

Kind regards

Gareth"
