Boycott The Lass O'Gowrie Pub

after reading both sides of the argument, i have to say, i think it's more than ridiculous that a manchester pub should choose to show a liverpool game rather than the city's club. so, yes, lass o gowrie can fuck right off with that attitude. more importantly however, if you'd rang up the coms instead of the pub, you'd have found plenty of tickets available, and could have seen the match not just in widescreen but in all round panoramic vision.

Except we did show City. Fact is, the City game was on an hour later than the Liverpool game so that was on first at the back of the pub's big screen with City being shown on the big screen by the bar.

A quick question for the owner, if United had been playing which one would have been on the big screen?

I have found that trying to get City on at most pubs is a right pain, if there's any other reason not to have it put on it isn't. I don't suppose I can really comment on this situation because I wasn't there but some pubs seem to not want to take your money. It's a good job that I've got the Orange Tree in Alty round the corner from my house, they can't do enough for blues in there.

You'd have both been on, as we've done on the very rare occasion it's happened before (with the Carling Cup I think). One would be at the back of the pub, one at the front of the pub or upstairs and we'd be door-crewed up to the hilt.

As I said Badge....couldn't get out of work in time (managed it for Monday's game, so couldn't push it) and if had gone to CoMS, woulda been lucky to make second half kick off....pub was next best option.

I've always known the Lass as a rags pub anyway from being about 20yrs old (and I'm 40 now)?

I know an Irish landlord in Manchester (no, not Keogh in Mary D's) who is a rabid rags fan. However, whenever it comes to business, he'd happily serve the devil himself so long as the devil had the means to pay.

I'm amazed the halfwit at the Lass is still in business behaving like that.

Fuckin ell, he sounds as bitter as the ginger dwarf/aka landlord of The Burton on Swan St...

USED to like the pub - however, virtually 4 quid a pint and this story has now relinquished my interest of ever setting foot in there again.

The Lass is owned and run by a couple of lads that have that and the Seven Oaks. Both good boozers and both have same rag and blue support. Very unusual for this to happen.

Wheras The Burton is a rag and all the old scum nutters from Gorton, Ancoats and Droylsden go in there. Be very careful what you say or Mr Stanley has been known to visit.

Tbf if the dippers had the commentary on from the off, the match would only have had about ten minutes to go until ours came on, not really fair to turn the commentary off for them to stick some shite build up on.

Fair enough, but I meant if Liverpool and United had been playing. I suspect United would have been on the big screen with the commentary?

Nope, both on with commentary, both with their own big screens. We regularly show 2 games at once, both with sound, so no problem on that score.

As to which game would be on which side, we're talking hypothetically here but it would purely be a commercial decision based the game itself, so f'rinstance if Utd were playing Walsall in the Carling Cup as opposed to, oooh say Arsenal v City at the same time then clearly the City game would have the larger space as you'd be likely to bring more fans and need more space (as well as needing to accommodate the Arsenal fans). Nevertheless, both would have at least one big screen and sound, regardless.

It's a decision we make on a weekly basis with regards any game really, with more than one eye to paying the bills and showing the game in a safe, pleasant atmosphere.
