Boycott The Lass O'Gowrie Pub

As to which game would be on which side, we're talking hypothetically here but it would purely be a commercial decision based the game itself, so f'rinstance if Utd were playing Walsall in the Carling Cup as opposed to, oooh say Arsenal v City at the same time then clearly the City game would have the larger space as you'd be likely to bring more fans and need more space (as well as needing to accommodate the Arsenal fans). Nevertheless, both would have at least one big screen and sound, regardless.

And this is what rubs blues up the wrong way in my eyes. The amount of times I've been down the pub when City having been playing the other end of the country and United down the road and because of the number of United fans in the pub we've been shunted to the corner or just completely ignored. Now I understand that pubs aren't charities and it all boils down to money in the till but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

How about he does the Tevez dance and uploads it here and then we´ll forget about it all?

Agree time to draw a line under it. I wasnt there and do not know the full facts, but I am sure if it was a misunderstanding it wont happen again.

Don't remember seeing me or not, I have been a user of the Lass since 1983. (Unsuprisingly not since 2988, as you claim I said) And was last in two Saturdays ago in a party of 10 people....
I called the pub earlier to ask if the game was being shown, not to enquire how many tv's you were showing it on......

All three of us heard you say you hate City....don't know if you like Liverpool, you never said, and I didn't put that in the op, but yeah, of course you will deny that now.....

As far as we are concerned....show whatever games you choose....legally or otherwise. Boycott for us and all the Blues we know stands

Sorry, I can't have that. You can say what you like about whether you bullied the staff or not into showing it on the screen of your choice, but I will not be painted as anti-City.

I didn't at any point say I hate City, because it simply isn't true. I know a lot of our City regulars and it has been a privilege over the years seeing the unique City rollercoaster ride unfold. Personally, I'm a Blackburn fan from wales Who runs a Manchester boozer, owned by a Suffolk brewery named after a Scottish poem. My business partner is a Tottenham fan. What reason would we have to hate City, who by and large are lovely fans who like the atmosphere in the pub and come to the games we show, mostly the away games.

As I say, I'd be grateful for people reading this thread to simply make their own minds up. If we hated City as much as you suggest, then why are we bumping all the other games this Bank Holiday Sunday to enable fans to watch Sunderland v City @ 3pm. It's not solely for the Sunderland fans, let me tell you.

Oh and we'll be stocking Blue Moon on draft from late September. Hardly the act of an anti-City landlord I'd suggest.

No....but definitely the act of a landlord back-pedaling with one eye on taking Blues money. When it suits, imho.

Dress it up anyway you want to, I stand by my initial post, that a pub IN Manchester giving preference to a Scouse game (or any other come to that) over the local team is totally out of order.

As for what you re City...we stand by it...if it wasn't you, then it was your henchman next to you at the bar.

Avoiding the question about the German channel I see.... ; )

I went in the Rampant Lion near Victoria Park with my mate at the back end of last season because he'd just moved on to Upper Brook Street. There is a big Sky Sports sign outside, so I asked what time they would be putting the City match on. The woman went in the back, came back 5 minutes late and said "Sorry, we only show the big games". It's no wonder the place was fucking empty, I left a full pint and walked out.

I used to work just round the corner from the Rampant Lion so it was my local for a while.

Went in one day for lunch and ordered a hot beef baguette. It came and the bread was stale, the beef very undercooked despite me asking for it medium and to top that it was stone cold.

Asked the woman behind the bar to take it back and heat it up and she basically told me no chance.

I'd rather go teetotal and starve rather than spend any of my money in that place

While we are slagging pubs................... Outside the queens near guide bridge station, they have a banner saying THE BEST CARVERY IN AUDENSHAWE. I popped in there yesterday with mrs quagmire and can tell you, that the landlord would get sent down for breaching the trade descriptions act! The food was absolute rank, the 'chef' was bladdered (at 1 o'clock in the afternoon)
if it really is the best, Audenshawe i feel for you.

Isn't the Lass a student pub and so they accomodate their regulars?
(ie: out of town Scouse supporting student tossers)

To be fair though they say City was on a 100 inch projector, so what was the problem Gaudino?

Local pubs should be for local supporters. My local, run by Edward and Tubbs, would have none of this nonsense there.

It always used to have BBC North West people in, not sure if it does any more.

Early 90s, if you went abroad to some countries e.g. Netherlands, Belgium.. you could turn off one of the speakers on a stereo TV and the other one would then be in English.

Maybe the same happens over here for German?
