Bradford City thread

We took 4K there yesterday a huge following at this level but the difference away from home is that the support is behind them regardless of any mistake ............ which is completely different to at home when one wrong bass can quickly turn the attmosphere toxic :( ............ still don’t know where we will end up ........ we could easily get the Automatics or easily end up midtable .......... still it’s gonna be interesting over the next few months
Nobody likes bad beer. It leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

That video on YT showing the fire from it starting is frightening. The speed in which it progressed from a small fire under a few seats to a raging inferno, enveloping the entire stand. RIP to those who went to watch a football match, and never returned home that evening. That was a wretched year for the wider footballing family.

I've sat through the whole thing twice as training videos on human error and decision making, absolutely horrific that many went to the back of the stand and perished, a lack of foresight by the club and risks not being evaluated.
RIP to those fans

I always forget that a 15 year old Birmingham City fan was also killed that same day when a wall collapsed after a fight between Leeds and Birmingham fans. Does make you realise how far football has come in terms of these events.

2 of the names on that list were a father & son who were part of the Junior Football club that I have been involved with for the past decade.

Every year we have an award that is presented by the age group that they were associated with.

As other have said that video is a tough watch, even more so that the cameras kept rolling and John Helm had to "commentate" on it

It's the forgotten tragedy, really. Compared to certain other appalling events that have blighted this wonderful sport we get so worked up about, Bradford gets relatively little fanfare in any given year. Maybe in the local media, hopefully.

There wasn’t a campaign that followed it for decades like Hillsborough that kept it newsworthy.

And when people have tried to make outlandish theories or claims, Bradford and Lincoln fans I know are embarrassed and quick to play it down. There was a “journalist” just the other month who put a podcast out with his own theory of it, and it got rinsed by Bradford and Lincoln folk and made clear it’s not appropriate and they should be left to rest in peace and families/friends mourn as they choose to do so.

Both clubs mark the occasion yearly with a fitting tribute, and when they play each other it gets a respectful remembrance.

That’s my take, as a Lincoln supporter and talking to friends and family around about it growing up.
