In large part it was due to the mindset all the way from the very top of the country at the time, that fans weren't people, but simply problems. The real crime there was that we didn't learn anything from it at the time and the Tories used it for their own ends to try to push thru largely unrelated legislation that simply fitted their view of the world.

Watched the piece on this on football focus last week, it had be just staring in silence with a huge lump in my throat. I am privilaged to go to a football game in a safe arena now and as others have said, that could of happend anywhere.

Massive respect to Bradford City aswell in the way they handle their tradegy compared to other clubs in this country who milk it as something to be proud of.

RIP. Never forgotten..............and quite true that your marketing department leave this shocking event in history.

I lived in Baildon just outside of Bradford at the time and was in the town centre with my old man on the day. With it being a special day for the club, he toyed with taking me and my brother to the game but he decided against it. All I can say is thank god he did. On the way home the bus was diverted and it seemed the driver had gone the wrong way but as he approached the environs of the ground the sirens were deafening and the plume of smoke was the biggest I've ever seen, even to this day.

For weeks after the people of Bradford just seemed numb, like zombies. The fundraising effort was a credit to anyone involved. And it goes without saying the heroics of the police and indeed normal fans on the day was inspiring, without them the death toll would have been much worse. If anyone views the video mentioned earlier will be heartbroken at just how quickly the fire spread.

However today my thoughts are for the 56. You'll never walk alone.
