Maybe the Sterling saga will increase the chance of Brahim getting game time
Was thinking the same thing. Sterling’s contractual dispute will certainly open up a pathway to the First Team Regulars if it continues and if Diaz shines in his opportunities the pressure will be on, particularly if Raheem doesn’t live up to last seasons numbers of key goals.
If, however, it comes to pass that Brahim wants a move at the end of the season and he gets one with the usual buyback clause then that may not be the end of the story. If he happened to go to, say, West Ham and play for Pellegrini for a couple of years then come through as a blue chip young player then we could resign him and everyone would win.

i dont think it s a surprise if he leaves. he basically has no chance at all of becoming a first team player here or getting good enough game time. a few cup games or training is not enough now. its the same for pretty much all the academy. we will always spend big money or pick first team ready players. tbh I've given up a bit on caring about the academy as its just becoming a cash generator.

if he moves now he will get first team football and a proper chance to develop. also its funny reading on here all the criticisms - lightweight/ not good enough. as soon as youngster might leave then hes not good enough haha

Is he an 8? A winger? Inverted winger? A false nine? A 10 (which we don’t use)?

There’s no place for him here unfortunately. Seems like another Rony.

No reason why diaz cant be the back up to sane and be a starter in the league cup and against lower placed teams. we just lack faith in all our youngsters if mbappe was in our academy we would've been in a similar situation.
If he is as good as you and others rate him, surely he is deserving of more minutes than the odd scraps you suggest. With the strength of our squad, a sale with buy back is probably a win win

Uncharacteristically, his first touch let him down. Might be the case of trying too hard or trying to do too much. He'll be better.

****another Rony not being a dig at all btw.

I’m not sure what you do with him at this point? He doesn’t want to be loaned out and he’s got a year left but he probably isn’t good enough to get many minutes this szn....quite the quandary.

He should just leave. Staying and trying to fight it out against established stars, he is putting too much pressure on himself and not allowing the natural progression. It won't help him. Sell with buy back.

Yes, his first touch was total shite & he needs to get it together quickly.

Might be a lot better in the next one now he's played a game though. And tbf the team was so weirdly disjointed it was difficult for any of the players to create meaningful football.
