Breaking records/stats thread

??? In all competitions? I thought someone posted we had 14 consecutive in the league and 20 in all comps? which makes us four short of the 18.... or is that what you're alluding to?
I was alluding to the fact that we already have a record run of 18 league wins set in 2017/18 season, which liverpool matched last season, we don't need 4 to match liverpool, we need 5 to beat our own record.

Unless I'm missing something, there is massive irony in a lot of reporting of these records tonight. Guardiola can't have won 200 matches if City have just set the new consecutive wins record as the 200 includes the wolves 'draw' which was part of the 20 game run.

Either the win record is 20 and Guardiola has won 200 or Guardiola is a few short of 200 and the record of 15 was set tonight?

Can someone explain this to me. 9th feb, it was claimed the win was pep's 200th.

We had a whole debate about it, did it include extra time wins etc.

How is it 200 today then.

Like groundhog day on here

Today was his 200th win in regulation time, the 200 mentioned previously included wins in extra time and pens

I thought IFAB originally said wins on penalties were included, but seem to have changed their mind.
Yes @Gary James always said IFAB counted it as a win, (along with a number of the top football stattos) City actually had a piece on the website saying IFAB classed it as a win too. Although I emailed IFAB after the Wolves game and David Elleray responded with the attached, which I took to mean it wasn't classed as a win, to me it has always been a very grey area.

Anyway the record is definitely 20 now.

It was David Elleray who sent me an email saying it counted as a win for sequence purposes back in 2017. I didn’t care either way. I just wanted consistency but now, 4 years on, Elleray’s changed his mind. It seems he’ll say whatever he thinks the person asking wants him to say.

Wouldn't pay that any mind, Elleray never had a clue when he was a referee, don't see why he'd be any different now.

Why don't we just play the for it, on the pitch, winner takes all.

I'm happy with their view as long as they take 2 European Cups off the dippers and 1 off the rags.
