Breaking records/stats thread

Why don't we just play the for it, on the pitch, winner takes all.
Liverpool and United haven’t won as many Champions Leagues as they think then. They were just given the ones they won on penalties after the finals they drew.

So; the record (in Europe, at least) is 26 wins on the spin. Held by Ajax in the early seventies.
The New Saints of Oswestry Town & Llansantffraid Football Club, 27 wins in a row in all competitions - 2015-2016

SL Benfica, 29 league wins in a row - 1972-1973.

Then SSN was wrong.

SSN are shocking. Some of the “experts“ they get in that get really basic stuff wrong beggars belief.

The FFP case was a prime example.

The only reasonably good source is, ironically, a guy from Liverpool Uni that comes on sometimes.

They get away with such nonsense as it’s all dumbed down.

  • Pep Guardiola has now registered 100 wins at the Etihad in what was his 126th home match in charge of City.

  • City are now unbeaten in the last 28 matches in all comps, matching the club's previous record set in 2017.

  • City haven’t trailed for a single minute in any of the last 19 Premier League games, equalling Arsenal’s record of 19 consecutive games without falling behind, set between December 1998 - May 1999.

  • The opening goal vs Wolves was the 350th scored at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola.

  • The 4-1 win vs Wolves was the 61st different occasion that City have scored at least 4 goals in a single game under Guardiola, which is 22.2% of his games in charge.

I thought it was over with 10 minutes left...just had a bad feeling. I should know better.

21 done 7 to go.

Next up United...it’s their cup final and they will try everything to be the ones that stopped us. Win this next one and we might just do it.

If we don’t get it I won’t care 5 minutes after but while it’s on I’d really like it. Win Win.

I’ve just seen that we weren’t credited with any assists last night, that has to be a record - most goals scored in a match without an assist??

Amazing run of form, but I’m with Pep on this - doesn’t count for anything until you have the trophies in your hands.

So one game at a time.

A few years ago a team (I think it was Chelsea) was in the same position we are now (ok not so much of a gap at the top of the league) too, league cup final, FA cup and Champions league. The press started talking about them winning everything and continued it for two months - then I’ve rather course of two weeks it all fell apart. I can’t really see that happening to this side but still, one game at a time.

Fate has a way of taking things away from you - I think we all know that even if city did the impossible and won everything the BBC team of the year would be the NHS (after a suspicious online campaign coordinated by people with IP addresses mainly in the range of 192.168.scouse.1)
