Breaking records/stats thread

Since you seem to be arguing this alone so far bluesmith, just wanted you to know that I agree with you. It's not anti-City to think it should be classed as a draw.
Cheers, I'm sure there's a few who agree. It does seem to be a grey area and it's hard to disagree with Gary - he's forgotten more than most of us know.

I also thought we drew with Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final last season...

[Edit: actually, I thought we won it, since that cross stayed in play, but that's a different argument]

It's only the bookies that don't see it as a win as they pay out on 90 minutes, so a draw in their eyes.

Yep Bluesmith might be correct and there are a lot of people who agree despite what we would like to think.

I think it might be one of those that it depends who you ask. No doubt we will claim it. Not sure if there is an official body that records it or not but if there is, it isn't the BBC.

Is going through on away goals a win? You win the tie but not the game necessarily. I know it's different but there is some grey area.

In the World Cup if it's a draw after ET it's recorded as a draw on the country's all time WDL record and I think it's the same for clubs. The bookies have nothing to do with it. Most statisticians will record the result as at the end of 120 minutes.

It should be a win in my opinion but it's not clear cut...

If we'd have lost on pens though it would have been as clear cut as you can get from most quarters.
