Breaking records/stats thread

My whole point is that it isn’t comparing apples with apples because one is a 42 game season and the other is a 38 game season. Converting out 3 points for a win into 2 points doesn’t address that difference it just replicates it.

How can that possibly be a like for like comparison? Wouldnt the true like for like comparison be to multiply Liverpool’s 1978 points total by 38/42? Or to multiply our points total by 42/38? A points percentage doesn’t really give a like for like comparison.

That's why they tend to use points % and win % to equalise things.
We can claim the latter by winning at Southampton.
We can't surpass Preston for the first - by losing to Utd and drawing with Hudderfield that boat sailed.

There’s a long list of records we’ve beaten, equalled and could beat this season. Incredible and only strengthens Pep’s case for manager of the year.

If we get to 100 points and then the winning margin as well, we've embarrassed the Premier League this season. I don't know if Scotlandised is a word but that's pretty much what we've done to this league.

Difficult to compare apples to oranges but if you compare the first 22 games of our season to the first 22 games of the Preston invincibles, we'd won 20, drawn 2, whereas they'd drawn 4 and won 18.

I’ve been going through the possible permutations for the final points margin, depending on our respective results on Sunday:

16 - City lose, rags win
17 - City draw, rags win
18 - City lose, rags draw
19 - results same
20 - City draw, rags lose
21 - City win, rags draw
22 - City win, rags lose

20+ would be nice.
