Honestly mate having lived in the US for a little while I’d not want that type of system here. The doctors are thorough but even with insurance the system is terrifying - needed an MRI and it was approved by the insurance company but even then was told if they didn’t pay out I’d be on the hook for $10k. What a life that is.
Looking after ourselves is harder than not looking after ourselves. Depends if we want a soft approach such as having home economics again in school - might help we had to do it in 1st to 3rd years of high school - not sure it’s made me a better cook mind and I’m as partial to junk food as the next person so probably not all that useful!!! So maybe tax the fuck out of it so it puts the price to the point people really will have to think long and hard about it. It’s not all about choice, Mental health plays a part - again by the time people realise they have a problem and have been eating their feelings it’s too late and they’re 30 stone - perhaps school has the answer, let’s make it normal to talk - of course it needs money but it’s probably one of those situations where the money you save in the long term pays for the upfront interventions.
Whatever the solution, or solutions, are I think we’d all agree they start long before people end up in hospital or on disability allowance because they literally can’t walk as they’ve fucked their bodies up.
