Breathtaking

Something I didn’t hear much about was the state of the pandemic plan prior to COVID. Maybe I just missed it but was this covered by the public enquiry?

The drama captures the reality of the chaos through the eyes of the front line much better than any news article at the time. My heart goes out to anyone that had to go through that. It’s a wonder there isn’t significant PTS throughout the NHS given what they had to cope with and witness. How quickly these bastard politicians forget what we all owe them. Isnt if fucking typical that we think it’s sufficient that they got clapped and a few pots got banged.

It was ever thus in warfare. The combatants get shafted and generals promoted/knighted.

The production is to be lauded although I found it an incredibly hard watch bringing back as it did so many horrible emotions and memories.

Who the hell is going to be held accountable and actually be punished for PPE, the infection of care home, eat out to help out (fuck me that was criminal) …….

I thought this would get the same press/media coverage as the post office.

I dont get the feeling it is which surprised me.

The way the frontline NHS were treated is a national disgrace. As well as the residential care homes and staff. What did the government doing clap on their door steps and have them a 1% pay rise.

My daughter in law was in icu I never released just how bad it was in there. All heroes.

The scandal of PPE a embarrassment, the government willing to put frontline lives at risk. How much money did boris mates make with dodgy PPE ?

Its simple if you think about it - the Post Office scandal blame could be spread wide - Labour allowed Horizon to be launched - Ed Davey's time as minister and then the Tories.

The covid debacle however is all on the Tories - from Johnsons refusal to stop shaking hands at the start- Partygate - airports staying open - PPE VIP fast lanes - the list goes on and in a vastly Tory weighted press landscape they won't go in as big.

It won't get the same coverage as the criticism is all about the Tories and their response to the pandemic.
However, it also doesn't deliver the same shock. We all lived through Covid. We saw the death figures, we watched the daily briefings and we were aware of the chaos on the wards. We also heard of a shortage of PPE and that some of the sourced PPE was useless. The Michelle Mone stuff etc.

Just finished watching it. The first two episodes in particular highlight how amazingly hard it is to be a doctor at anytime, let alone during Covid.

The judgement calls around life and death interspersed with the empathy and patience they have with patients is nothing short of incredible.

Then, during Covid, despite being let down by NHS England et al, they risked their own lives to save as many people as possible with inadequate equipment.

The third episode highlighted the mental side of anti-vax, Covid denying social media, which came at a time when they must have been physically and mentally exhausted.

That’s before the actual failures of government and NHS England are looked at.

The sad thing is, if there was another pandemic tomorrow, we would be in an even worse position than we were in 2020.

”Lessons will be learnt”.

No they won’t.
