Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We were too open. They had chances throughout the game, mostly because our midfielders and attackers are underwhelming in the defensive part of the game and do not provide enough protection. KDB, Foden and Haaland are fantastic going forward but need a Rodri behind them. Perhaps even Rodri's biggest fans didn't realise how important he was the last two seasons.

Savinho was selfish but he is a huge talent. Doku should have replaced Foden, there was so much space for him to run into. Pep isn't at his best this season and we know why. He will create a new great team though.

Gundo for Kova was instrumental in them coming back.
How people can't see that when Gundo came on the pendulum swung massively in Brentfords favour. First thing he did was drill a ball out of play down the RH side.

He is a shadow of his former self and if i was one of the younger lads I'd be raging inside watching him come on in front of me.

He's is Peps blue eyed boy and is a huge contribution to our problems when he plays.

Get another body in now whilst the window is open and let him swan off back to Germany.

Can we can recall Phillips???

Feels gut wrenching when we keep throwing leads away. In the past when we were 1-0 up even after 5 minutes we would know it’s game set and match. It was just a matter of us scoring. Even if the opposition went 1-0 up.

Now it’s the opposite it is just a matter of can we keep the opposition out as if we can’t we are not winning even if they score first.

Rodri has been a massive loss as have all the injuries but the confidence is drained.

And like I said I don’t get how either of those would have stopped their goals from happening. The same
Gaps would have been there and the same players who had brain farts to give the goals away would have been too.
Maybe Nico would have stopped the cross
Maybe Jack would have held the ball upon their final third Maybe

Overall we can’t complain, a draw was a fair result
First half was like a basketball game without the goals
We had no control at all from midfield
It seems this will continue for the rest of the season unless we buy a no6 who can have an immediate impact - which appears unlikely

a draw is a good result unless you throw away a two goal lead with ten minutes to go. Can’t blame the players, not their fault we don’t have a recognised full back, not their fault we have no legs or steel in the middle, not their fault we have a makeshift central defence. It’s also not their fault the manager can’t see we need legs on and to use some game management to see out a game.

our 8 from 4 was leicester, west ham, everton and brentford. dont say brentford are good either - they’re 10th and were 16th last season. the others are relegation fodder.

desperately need to beat ipswich and then hope and pray new signings reinvigorate the place because the top 8 sides are going to pull
our pants down
Have you noticed a change in form and results? It's obvious. You are pulling your own pants down.

makes no sense leaving Haaland up all game when he was hardly walking after 80 min plus. no press, no closing down, no track back from Haaland. looked injured at one point too. why not pull him and bring Lewis for adding bit more energy on defending or move Nunes middle and have Lewis at RB.
even the Gundo sub, should have came for KDB to help Kova out rather than instead of him.

also the shit effort to try to block those crosses before the Brentfold goals.
The reality is that Pep doesn't want to hurt his ego. It's really as simple as that.

I thought he held the ball up well today, but when we went 2-0 up, or certainly when they got one back, he should have been off for a midfielder.

No lack of effort. Just too old and overrun in midfield again. We need more energy and younger players.

Well we all watched some of City's youth running their hearts out at the weekend hoping to give our so-called superstars a rest for tonight's game

I’ve got to be honest, I’m dreading Chelsea and Liverpool, they could be pretty fucking horrendous unless our midfield drastically changes.
