Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Usually? I thought, before last year we've been relentless from New Year on?

Pep, on the other hand, isn't in transition so can we all reserve the right to comment upon his substitutions and the timing of them?
I recall seeing stats of a decline in performances from most teams who've played a midweek CL game, so it comes as no surprise that our second half performance against Brentford seriously dipped & why we setup & played as we did against Arsenal. 4 points from two away games is a decent PL return.

As for Pep, he put himself & more importantly Manchester City in this situation. For whatever reason, he delayed our succession planning & squad rebuild, which has seriously set us back.

The club have evidently responded by effectively sacking Pep's coaching team & giving Hugo carte blanche to do as he sees fit, hence Soriano rejecting Spud's overture for Savinho, & extending his contract, as confirmed by Guardiola last week.

Join the dots mate. These things are beyond coincidence. As it stands, we're paying the cost for what Pep admitted was effectively his negligence in rebuilding our squad, when it was clearly obvious it was needed after the treble.

It's not entirely insane.

Time will tell I guess. Maybe his footwork and his understanding with the defence will improve, or maybe teams will shut down any passing options and cause mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with him so far, but I dont think it's insane to ask questions still.
He is bossing that defence now imo

Not arguing with any of that - but then, neither did my post:

@BringBackSwales

Really sorry you ran into the same steward as I did back in January. Like you said, it's difficult not to react when you're confronted by jumped up tossers, who delight in pushing the limits of your patience to get a reaction, whether that be at the gate or clearing an aisle with a gratuitous shove in the back.

As I've mentioned before, the parting words of the steward responsible for my arrest were "enjoy your banning order", which tells you all you need to know about the shithousery of the twat and his knowledge of the consequences for daring to stand up for yourself.

As blokes of a similar generation, maybe we suffer fools less than others. Maybe, being brought up in less draconian times, our threshold is lower. Maybe, expecting to be treated with due respect as a visiting supporter is now consigned to the past.

I've had many conversations with the FSA about stewarding and whilst a complaint can be raised, nothing will be achieved by doing so. All Clubs have a supporters charter, which is littered with caveats and limitations, most of which are geared to protect the Club, not the supporter. Drafted and manipulated by faceless Supporter Compliance committees at each and every PL club. All very similar and protected by the same legal framework. The independent governance of the PL is being brought in to give greater protection to fans, hold Clubs to account and restore some semblance of balance. One of the many reasons the PL are so against the regulator being imposed upon them.

It's my understanding that stewards have no legal right to search a wallet, only the Police can do this. Even then, they have to due process and have to show reasonable cause to do so. Simple Police profiling would suggest a 66 year old man attending with his son, would not be meet the threshold. That being said, football supporters attending an away fixture are treated very differently to the general public, so the rule book gets thrown out of the window.

There's a video doing the rounds of a free for all at Brentford, from a cup match last year against Orient. Full on fight with the stewards, a black guy with dreads front and centre, wading in to away fans, going full Danny Dyer. Draw your own conclusions as to the level of passive crowd control on show.

Take care pal.
Cheers Dodge. Some tosser on here earlier accused me of “kicking off with stewards”. If faking a steward why he needs to search my tiny credit sized wallet is kicking off, then I kicked off. The daft thing is I knew from your experience what they are like but it was impossible not to comment. No point complaining cos fuck all will happen

It's not entirely insane.

I was happy to see Ederson go, felt it was time and the benefit we got from his footballing skills was dropping, while he didn't make enough saves. Donnarumma is way better and more commanding as a traditional keeper, yes. I do wonder though if we would have been under a lot less pressure in the 2nd half if we still had Ederson's distribution helping us control the game.

Time will tell I guess. Maybe his footwork and his understanding with the defence will improve, or maybe teams will shut down any passing options and cause mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with him so far, but I dont think it's insane to ask questions still.
It’s pretty insane

Get it all down in writing and get in touch with Brentford mate and make it all about his attitude and language rather than the process itself.

The searching is all well and good (I suppose), but the antagonistic, baiting behaviour is a totally different matter.

This c*** needs to be knocked down a peg or two, he's a steward acting like he's the boss and he needs a course in public relations at the very least. There are ways of doing what they have to do and he definitely doesn't know how to do it.

Get him reprimanded sharpish. Sounds like he was a right cock.
As Dodge would tell you there’s fuck all point mate, appreciate the sentiment. If it’s the same **** he’s been getting away with it for years. And yes he’s a complete cock

You've GOT to complain to BRENTFORD mate .... and their 'Operations team' will deal with it.

By text or email it's suggesting, seeing as you aren't face to face with any of their stewards anymore ....... but you could write to, or phone them i suppose, if you preferred doing it that way.
Hang on, you’re now telling me to complain, earlier you were saying I’d “kicked off with a steward”

It must be different stewards, i was simply patted down
Nobody said it was every fan and every steward mate. I got patted down and he said empty your pocket (which had my phone and tiny wallet in it), I said do you mean please would you empty your pocket, he said empty your pockets now. I did and shows him the phone and wallet, the wallet is just bigger than a debit card, he said empty it. I emptied it and showed him my debit card, pensioners bus pass and stroke association card, he then said I need to see inside it, I asked why and he said “cocaine” - the rest is in my earlier post. Fucking cocaine, since my stroke even having a fucking wine gum is off the agenda

If "kicking off with a steward" is asking a perfectly legitimate question as to why they are performing a potentially illegal search, then we're all fucked.

I can also categorically confirm that complaining is utterly pointless.

Just mad that all the passing, control and style seemed to go to shit second half. A lot of that to do with Rodri going off. Erl's goal was him in full beast mode, just owning that defence.

There were many plusses including Phil, Nico G, Nico OR, Ruben, Donald Rumour. I normally like to comment on the positives rather than slate our players, but Savinho was disappointing and needs to show some application.

Great support from travelling fans and Natalie looked rather splendid on the app!!

I know everyone has been pointing out how we've no stamina and get found out second half and clearly been an issue for us since last season too.

We have had, and are still having a right old time with injuries, bedding in new players, no pre season too. It all takes a toll. What I've found unacceptable this week is the outrageous reffing we have had. Our declining energy second half added to either at best incompetent or at worst corrupt officiating is a proper shit sandwich.....

Seems silly complaining about foul throws not being given, taken in the wrong place, free kicks for breaking wind, but as at Monaco, a free kick leads to a piss weak penalty. Dipper England was booking ours for no fouls, theirs were kicking with impunity, has a cumulative effect. Thank goodness we managed to hold on against Stoke mk 3, but an honest game this is getting harder and harder to believe.

Only just seen this - funny how you consider the other poster disagreeing with you as talking bollocks, but that you disagreeing with him means that he 'got burned' for it!

You might want to rein in your own feelings of self-importance?

I was specifically referring to your point (assuming that I'm deciphering it properly) - the idiotic belief that you can't support a team and be unhappy with some aspect of their performance.

Could you genuinely not see that?
I have already explained the essence of my statement to you several times. My harsh words toward him were not because I disagreed with him, but because he lied (or is stupid and actually believed what he said).

The statement

“we were awful the whole game”

is indeed an evaluative one, but the factual basis in this case — namely City’s excellent performance in the first half — is so clear that you can treat that evaluative statement at a similar level as one about facts.

Even after I called him stupid, I provided justification for it.

That was the essence of the matter — his assessment that City was awful in the first half of the match. In my view, that is an opinion so far removed from reality that, intellectually speaking, it falls within the realm of stupidity.

In particular, this has nothing to do with whether our assessments may differ in some respects. Our evaluations may differ in every possible way. For example, saying that City were awful in the first half yesterday is, in my opinion, stupidity — lets say as a view of kind of extremel radical party in a parlament. Can I call some historical political views as stupid or people believing in them stupid or not?

You, on the other hand, wander all over the place in your discussion, but never get to the core of the issue. That’s why I wrote that you shouldn’t message me anymore — but that still wasn’t enough. What are you getting at? That people are allowed to express opinions, including negative ones, on the forum? Are you 10 and just thought about it? Of course people can. But one can also call an author of a given opinion stupid — because in a case it could be just stupid, in the semantic/dictionary sense of the word.

Lol, I'm hoping that Brentford, of all teams, knock them out ... but the game is on Grimsbys patch, and you can't be sure that they won't rise to the occasion again.

Why would you want a PL side to knock out a lower league team in a cup comp?

I always want the lower side to win unless it's against us, I thought everyone wanted that tbh.

And especially after reading how their Stewards have treated some of our fans.

Imagine being a decent sensible person being treated like shit by some fuckwit in a yellow jacket looking for drugs!

How the fuck is that prick qualified to search for drugs?

Needs reporting word for word. I bet even the Police wouldn't be so blatant with a search that intrusive when there is zero evidence, going through wallets ffs!

Not arguing with any of that - but then, neither did my post:

:-)
I'm just cutting to the chase to save on going around the houses with you fella.

Agreed, Pep personally isn't in transition but his team is, & seeing as Guardiola doesn't play football for us, he's a manager managing a team in transition, which should never have happened.

As for Pep's substitutions? Our substitutes are in transition too. I hope this helps clarify our pretty obvious current status for you. \0/

I’d do it if it was t pointless pal but we all know it is. If it’s the same fucker who stuffed you then he’s been getting away with it for a very long time. I couldn’t find the Orient video was it the 30 seconds one inside the ground?

Zzzzzzzzz

I'm just generalising mate, and you're probably old enough to know it too ..... anyway why not try complaining to one of the clubs involved then, if you are so convinced I'm talking rubbish ????
I wouldn’t bother mate. This bloke is a dick.
Wildly alternates between “I’m a poor sick guy” to fucking Ronny Pickering…
He’s a proper Walter Mitty.. Put him on ignore.. He’s just a harmless wanker but gets on everyone’s nerves..

No clarification required, but thanks for offering to help me out (jeez, two in one day?)

Not sure on which particular tangent you took off to reach the place you are, considering that I posted this...
