Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Are they, though? Every young keeper these days is training with the ball at their feet more than ever. I didn't expect the club to find a replacement keeper with Ederson's qualities, but I also didn't expect them to go from Eddy to a keeper who's notorious for being poor with the ball at his feet, to the point that PSG moved on from him despite winning everything available to them bar the Club World Cup.
Your full of shite. Next

This one is for @Dodge. I went to Brentford yesterday with my youngest, fully aware of what the Brentford stewards are like after knowing of Dodge’s experiences and the repercussions. Despite this I was speaker to so rudely by one of the younger stewards at the entry (frisk) point that I reacted by asking why he thought he could talk to me like that. Despite having frisked me he told me (told not asked to empty my pockets), which I did and he asked me what was in my wallet - the “wallet” is a City one, literally tiny and credit card sized. He asked me what was in it - I told him (truthfully) that it was (a) my debit card (b) my bus pass and (c) my stroke association card (I had a stroke 4 months ago, and no not from mrs swales). He told me (aggressively) to take the cards out and show me inside (there is literally no room for anything other than these cards) and he had a look inside. I asked him what he expected to find inside - he said cocaine! I laughed and said I am a 66 year old retired accountant who is recovering from a stroke, and surely if I had cocaine one of the sniffer dogs would be all over me, stop being so stupid. At this another older steward came over and advised me that if I caused any more trouble (lol) I wouldn’t be going in. The way they spoke to me I wasn’t ready to accept however fortunately my occasionally sensible 16 year old son came over and said dad don’t say anything and just get into the ground. The older one said sarcastically at least your son has got sense, somewhat inflammatory given I’d done nothing wrong). I decided to agree with my lad and walk off. I have to say the stewards at the search point are twats who are looking to deliberately antagonise people (maybe not all of them but from several years experience many of them) and despite me knowing what they are like from what happened to Dodge I still fell for their antagonistic behaviour. Tbf I’ve never seen any issues from the stewards inside the ground, but beware of the cunts outside. Just to conclude, just after this I passed a sniffer dog, and safe to say it took no interest in my bus pass and stroke association card
Very sorry to read about that shit you had to put up with yesterday - many of us would have struggled to handle the provocation. It would have been nice if you could name and shame the cunts to their bosses, but perhaps the 3 points, with Erling and The Don doing the business will be enough to make up for it.

Agree with all you say about The Don.

What a great save yesterday. One on one & helped us to 3 points

That’s all I’ve got to say in response to your post

I loved Eddie but almost certainly that was one all on the one to one. Donna Baby knew exactly what he was doing and handled it brilliantly. PSG’s loss is very much our gain, hopefully for the next 10 years plus

I think it's psychological, any striker going 1v1 unless they are world class is going to second guess themselves when against Donnarumma. Igor Thiago is in form and he fumbled his touch and didn't know what to do when 1v1 against Donnarumma where as against the rags his finishes looked easy for him.

I think Donnarumma has such a presence and reputation that he's already won the mental battle with a striker before the games kicked off.

I honestly don't understand the grief that Nico G gets, i've been impressed every time he's played tbh. Looks much more comfortable, a bit of pace to his game now too and you can see he's learned scanning from Rodri as well. A really good player, it's pointless comparing him to Rodri just like it was pointless comparing Rodri to Fern when he came in. I feel much less worried with him being there in this team, i'd actually like to see both of them play together because i feel like he's got something to give going forwards as well.

100% this. He's an intelligent player. Does anybody really expect that he's supposed to replace Rodri? If Rodri is fit, and does not need resting, he is first choice every day of the week. Nico knows that, knows that he isn't a Ballon d'Or winner, and is never going to be close to it.
Nico G is thoroughly creditable back-up, and to play alongside him. I think he's somewhat better than Kova — certainly quicker — and in any case there's more future to him. Pep also says he's the most coachable player on the pitch. That's good enough for me.
There's sometimes a lot of impatience on this forum with our newer players…

You obviously have more discipline than me. I would have risen to it unfortunately and wouldn't have got in the ground, or worse still. I despise people like the stewards you have described.

You should write to Brentford FC and tell them.
Or FSF.

My friend had his wallet searched as well by a young steward who had a bad attitude.

I was stood next to my friend as the steward took my friends wallet off him and began looking through his wallet.

Are stewards allowed to do this?

Surely they are not?

What the fuck is going on with football where no mark, gobby, teenagers, are allowed to look through people's wallets and private possession?

What did they look like, I know Dodge said to look out for a black guy with dreads?

I am struggling to put my finger on it. It looked to me from the away end that we were reasonably competitive in the first half at Arsenal but then utterly swamped in midfield in the second half. Yesterday we were absolutely dominant first half (I believe it was the first time ever in the pl that Brentford had failed to manage a touch in the opponents penalty area in the first half) and that included half the first half without Rodri. But second half it felt like we were a hell of a lot less dominant in midfield and from the away end it felt like we were hanging on (the feeling wasn’t helped by the usual loud mouths shouting their negativity).

I am trying to get what the issue is. It’s definitely not Erling, he is better than ever. It’s not the defence, I thought we defended heroically at arsenal and brentford- Ruben was particularly good yesterday), so it feels like midfield is the issue and we are sometimes getting swamped there? Is it the personnel (I do think Reijnders is more an 8 or even a 10 on modern terms) and Phil is great on the ball but definitely more of a 10. Do we need an extra more defensively minded individual in midfield and if so who do we take out (personally I’d play Rodri (when fit) with Nicky G and Reijnders and Phil further forward. But are we missing more inverted fullback support in midfield as a way of getting more bodies into that area?

We’ve clearly got the best striker in the league and the best keeper in the league, the defence is looking a lot stronger and Khusanov and Ait Nouri to come back, I think if we can address the midfield issues another PL title is within our reach.

I did react, not aggressively but in a don’t talk to me like that way, and but for my son I wasn’t getting in mate

Disgraceful - these little Hitlers don't realise that there will be fans all over the country who hate their club, just because of their individual wankery. Of course, they can afford to act tougher than they usually would, knowing that you aren't going to clock them one and risk wasting your ticket and having nothing to do for several hours while you wait for a possible coach back home.

Is it even worth writing to the club and identifying the pricks by their location, if only for the slight satisfaction that they might be taken to task for it?

Horrible thought that there may be the odd individual like this covering the away areas at the Etihad, giving others the same opinion of City?

We do as City fans under-estimate most of the opposition and take away games we play for granted,
Brentford are no mugs on their patch and i think they have one of the best home records in the Premier League

Defo travelling away in Europe midweek, then to play away at the weekend does take its toll on the players, But i think it's more to do with a new squad and the players we have learning to gel with each other, but doing the hard yards takes time to learn, and yesterday we showed we can defend and shut up shop.

So yes, it's progress and lessons learnt with 3 points in the bag to take home and be proud of, but let's not underestimate teams like Brentford on their patch, with all the tricks in the book they use

We have much better patterns to our play compared to last season. When we hit the horror November, December last season we had no Rodri, Foden’s form completely fallen off a cliff with niggling injuries and Haaland cutting a frustrated figure not getting any service.

Move forward a year and yes we are still reintegrating Rodri and managing his fitness, Foden looks sharp again and Christ knows what Haaland has been eating as he’s scoring for fun. Doku looks like the penny is starting to drop with his performances. We are starting to see an uptick from some of the January arrivals in Gonzales and Khushnov when he is fit. There is a lot of work to be done with this team but you can see an improvement.

Exactly what happened to me but in a horrible aggressive way. Looking for cocaine lol

I know when me and my 90 year old dad got banned from the Etihad last season the FSF said they can more or less do what they want as regards my grounds for appeal, their word against mine.
Assuming its the same with searching.

They did say I could have taken City to task about the discrimination shown towards my disabled dad but fortunately I was in contact with a good guy at City who unlike the stewards involved had no need for a power trip so I didn't go any further.

Perhaps our midweek exploits in Monaco were taking their toll
To be honest mate, if a bunch of 20-something international athletes are seriously struggling on a Sunday after a Wednesday match in France - this early in the season - then God help us after Christmas...

He was young, black, and yes he had dreadlocks. I was tempted to take his pic, but again if I had done I don’t reckon I was getting into the ground and potentially looking at a 3 year banning order, for being a pensioner with a stroke and for the record I’d had half a pint of expensive London bitter as I’m not allowed to drink much due to the stroke. They are cunts and there must be dozens from different clubs who’ve been affected like Dodge
