Brentford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Heroic performance from brentford. Had us exactly where they wanted us. Outstanding performances by everyone in red. Wow.

Sorry, I just listened to the commentary on Amazon without watching the game.
I switched to crowd noise only at half time. Much better then listen to the shite they were spouting.

Two games in 3 days. One sub made in 180 mins. Brentford nick one and we question why one wasn’t made and why a 36 year old Fernandinho played all them minutes too. You cannot complain about fixture pile ups and Xmas schedule whilst advocating 5 subs and doing that. Simple.

No, if not one of 9 subs is able to play any minutes then we are fucked aren’t we
They didn't.

Great result and performance against a difficult opponent who packed their defence with 10 players. That is the kind of win that will win us the title (again). Pep is a bloody genius and we should enjoy him while we can.

If you take Laporte's offside tonight, if both lines are the thickness of the ball and, for argument's sake, start at the armpit of each player, then both lines will merge/overlap at some point, therefore it's onside.
If they just did that and said overlapping lines were on it would be a lot better

Bet you was saying the same about Rodri 18 months ago, and Mahrez before him..

I can't for the life of me understand why so many blues wanted us to sell Rodri. Personally thought it was clear from the start that once he tidied up a few things he'd be perfect for us.

Mahrez didn't have a great first season but it didn't matter because we just played Sané instead.

The problem with Grealish is that we're not slowly easing him in, we're playing him in a position he's not exactly used to and expecting him to score goals which has never been his forté.

It could well be.

And will (ok, should! :-) ) always be decided by where the furthest edge of any line is - regardless of how thick the line is.

If thin lines are used, then each need to be positioned so it indicates the very furthest 'active' point of each player.
It's where the leading edges are which is the critical thing.

As a spectical it was shit,as a result, lack of injuries, and three points in the bag, this game will not be talked about,if at seasons end we are Champions,if opposition insist playing 9/10 men defences and we score first the onus is on them to force a result not us.

I'm sure Pep will really have enjoyed about 88 minutes of that game. A professional performance which we used to succumb to. I would have liked to see subs used as tired players are more likely to pick up injuries. Someone should buy Bretford a lawnmower.

City did what we do best suffocate games, especially the second half. Brentford tried to impose their style and did a decent job tbf.

We deserved the win and Brentford deserved to not get hammered for their effort. The rolling about was frustrating to watch but when you come at the best you need to use every trick in the book.

Ake and Phil had a good game.

Cancelo needs a rest and we miss Rodri and walker. Hope both are back soon.

holy shit their manager has gone full anti manchester city there
note to pep for the return game at the etihad get somebody leave a big dirty turd on his seat
Nahhhh that’s not nice……….just leave a big pool of water on his seat and make sure he has to stand up so that I can be yelling at him to stay in his technical area! It will put him off his silly, bus parked ‘game’ plan! Stupid man!!

Not at our best with the ball but delighted to take three points as our rivals failed to do the same when their standard of performance dipped. Defensively excellent and rightly they should take the plaudits tonight.
