Pep got away without using any subs, but although Brentford didn’t really threaten towards the end, I can’t understand why Gundog and Mahrez were rested. OK we have Arsenal in 60 something hours, but ten minutes wouldn’t have worn them out.

Well Grealish was non existent. Even Barnardo was quiet although thats understandable on the occassion hes entitled. Ferna for me is showing his age at times. GJ contributed nothing. Some very sloppy hospital passes generally. Obv delighted with the 3 pts but we were fortunate they never nicked one cos I couldnt see a second from us.

Maybe they were also fortunate we didn’t double the lead ?

You don’t always have to look for the negative angle btw

Great performance considering the number of games over Xmas. Result more important, the Ake was terrific, Phil the most potent attacker with flashes from Kev and Dinho. Eddie looked alert too. If we get points against the arses we'll be sitting very pretty.

Just watched the late national and NW news on bbc1. Rita Chakrabarti smiled both at the top of bulletin and when the sports items were introduced. Good un. Even Andy Swiss' match report seemed fair . Perhaps Roan's finally been claimed by satan!

On to the local stuff, Irish big haired, full chested woman couldn't read our result of the autocue quick enough. And no mention of how much of a gap we'd opened up. Meow!

Long as we guard against complacency, get behind all the lads and don't go all entitled, hopefully we'll do alright come May....CTID

I must admit I pissed myself laughing when the Brentford fans were singing boring boring city as we were passing it around nonchalantly.

I thought we did what was necessary we scored and won the game, I think the lads found it hard on the long grass.
I'm getting a bit concerned with grealish. I Spent the last hour of the game wishing Raz would replace him and speed things up a bit.

Our control over games will continue to amaze me at times, numerous times the commentator mentioned it being a nervy last 20 mins, well they didn't even get to attempt a shot past the 71st min, so not sure how nervy that really is.

Could say it was a bit slack in terms of the passing at times, but honestly felt a bit more like "Lot of games recently, lets save the legs a bit".

Great goal, 3pts while others dropped points, lovely stuff. On to Arsenal.

Toney is a snide little bastard; absolutely should have seen yellow and probably red for the quite deliberate stamp on Ferny's calf.

Agree with all -- Phil and Ake both excellent tonight, as was Laporte and Kev too. Controlled the ball, the tempo and their breaks extremely well, and that's especially heartening after the breakdown 2H v Leicester.

Not sure I agree about Toney. There is room in the game for a bit of niggle. Dinho in classic enforcer role stood on him at a point in the first half when Toney was knocking the centre halves about a bit. Toney didn’t like it and responded in kind, they both got on with it thereafter and Dias and Laporte gradually got to grips with Toney. Personally I don’t want to watch over sanitised games, where VAR gets involved in every bit of handbags. Dinho is a master of the dark arts when he wants to be and we love him for it, but it cuts both ways.
