Brentford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Not sure I agree about Toney. There is room in the game for a bit of niggle. Dinho in classic enforcer role stood on him at a point in the first half when Toney was knocking the centre halves about a bit. Toney didn’t like it and responded in kind, they both got on with it thereafter and Dias and Laporte gradually got to grips with Toney. Personally I don’t want to watch over sanitised games, where VAR gets involved in every bit of handbags. Dinho is a master of the dark arts when he wants to be and we love him for it, but it cuts both ways.
I will only say there was a magnitude of order difference in the two events.

Toney should have been sent off. He stands on him with his left and kicks him with his right, and that’s after 2 footed jumping at Ferna WHILE HE IS ON THE GROUND, long after the play is whistled dead.

If Toney had left something on Ferna in a challenge, I’d have said “Fair do’s!” but this was quite different, obvious and cowardly.

Lots of it going around…

Give and take.

The game has gone far too soft.

Fern is a warrior and gives plenty out, sometimes you have to take it back and quite rightly so.

I was quite pleased for Brentford doing well for the first few months, seemed to play some decent football at times, with a “throw caution to the wind” air about them, and I found it quite refreshing, but last night, their fans seemed to turn into the Brighton fans of last season which grated a tad, so fuck the cunts and I hope they go down, can’t wait to play them at our place now and hope we’re proper disrespectful mutha fucka’s and put a huge dent in their goal difference.

Horrible game that im glad is out of the way.

Brentford, while not quite anti football, never allowed us to play or the game to properly flow.....it was a frustrating and aggravating 90 mins for me.

As for our players,i thought a fair few were under par and complacent ,there was almost a collective lethargy for periods, with Brentford's aggression very clearly winning the majority of 50/50's.

Foden was magnificent and Ake also had an excellent game.Cancelo and Dias were a bit sloppy, and Grealish looked far too introverted.
Bernardo has lost some spark again, but then he always does when KDB is on the field.....and i hope that situation doesn't replicate last seasons unhappiness.

Well Grealish was non existent. Even Barnardo was quiet although thats understandable on the occassion hes entitled. Ferna for me is showing his age at times. GJ contributed nothing. Some very sloppy hospital passes generally. Obv delighted with the 3 pts but we were fortunate they never nicked one cos I couldnt see a second from us.
Apart from the two marginal offsides and Kev hitting the post you mean...

Frank literally said “they have the biggest budget and we have the smallest” after the game tonight. It was if Sean Dyche was really there.

The commentary I followed started with "this Manchester City team cost over £500 million" against a scratch Brentford side that cost nothing. Brentford players made out to be plucky Boy Scouts who paid to play or were doing a "Bob a Job" night.

Just had a little read of a Brentford forum , not sure they watched the same game as the rest of us!
Ref wanted a City win , City players falling over at the slightest touch , how brilliant Brentford were going toe to toe with cheating City. How much City team cost against plucky Brentford yawn !

This period is about getting the points. We were largely shit but it doesn't matter 3 points in the bag and a crucial 3 at that. had to capitalise on the others dropping points and did so. That dishearten the chasing pack so much. Beat arsenal and we get a double figures lead over 1 if not both challengers. Magic.

Cannot understand why Pep didn't make any subs though especially when there were many that could easily have been subbed off. Really bizarre of him.
I thought this but suspect he wanted to keep Sterling, Mahrez and Gundogan fresh for the Arse?

We need to create more chances next game.

Ake done really well considering his lack of game time.

Typical Bernardo's performance when KDB is playing ( pressing + keeping possession )

Jesus was okay

Grealish isn't adapting well as a forward.

I don't understand how Pep prefer to use Grealish as forward instead of Jesus !

& Thanks to Kevin for keeping assisting the team again.

Don't understand everyone's bad feelings towards Brentford.
You knew how they were going to set up against us and be physical.
The hatred from the stands is showing how much we have grown as a club over the past 10 years.
Brentford will be back in the Championship in 2 years similar to the Huddersfield's / Swansea of this world.
Let them have 24 hours of being noticed.

If you want a rational/neutral view of any match don't go on a fans forum including here.

I agree with your comments. When I played admittedly at a lower level I gave it out and took it back in equal measures and never ever let an opposing player know he had caused me any discomfort

What Brentford have achieved in the last few years is magnificent , they should be respected by one and all.

Brentford do what they have to do, all that matters is survival for them.

Bernardo is ok, just needs a rest for a couple of games but with the injury/illness not sure when that will be.
