Delighted to get out of that with 3 points. Far from our best but we are winners. You don't win leagues without winning these kind of games. I take it as a positive, stops you getting too complacent, having to work hard for it.

Credit to Brentford too, they come and played.
 
Well played Brentford. Really gave us problems and had a go.
But thought we were great second half and should have ended with 4 at least. Very good contest.
 
Good win, tough game. Gvardiol was excellent when he arrived but they are a dangerous side for us - well coached too. Other than minutes in his legs, I was surprised we persevered with Kyle, but pace on one side and control on the other can create those overloads Pep loves.
 
Pity for Haaland. So many players screwed up just when he was in great positions.

We still have a lot of improving to do but we are having a great start to the season.

Looked like we were carrying some passengers today.

We might not have a harder home game all season, always a fucking scrap with Brentford. Defence looked really shaky today, Stones in particular. Erling looks like he could beat his first seasons total the way he's started, what a beast
 
A bit all over the place 1st half (especially in defence and CM). Much better after the break.

Haaland and KDB were very good and Rodri and Gvardiol coming on steadied the ship. How we didn't get at least a couple 2nd half I'll never know.
 
First half we were lucky not to concede 3 or 4, second half we were unlucky not to score 3 or 4, Pep's half time subs worked as were totally in control in the second half and Brentford hardly threatened, big win with the dippers losing and we've two big games ahead of us.

Southampton not for us. Play out of their skins, it's usually tight v them for us, with the very occasional 3-0,or something for us. Whereas when they play Rags and Dips it's no defence and an open goal.
 
Good win against a good team. They will finish in top six if they continue to play like that. Great to see Godri back. He changed the game. John/Kyle looked rusty as fuck so the minutes will help them. Thought Gundo and Josko had great second half’s. What can you say about Erling. So unlucky not to get another hat trick.
 
Could have been 0-3 down after 10 minutes.
Could have had four or five in the second half.
Savinho wants a good talking to for that dive.
Eddie made some great saves, made one goal with that long ball and almost did it twice more.
Haaland's amazing, not quite Dixie Dean (3 x 3) today though.
 
I would instead take lessons while taking all three points than not, but there are many lessons to take from that, to put it nicely.

Massive credit to Brentford. Their man-to-man press is relentless. If/when Pep does leave, I wouldn't be mad at all at Frank being in the mix to replace him.
