Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

I can understand the Sane shout to be honest mate. Electric pace and direct. Something different to what was on the pitch and not working.
Think everybody is probably a bit more miffed than they normally would be due to us not playing again now until the end of the year. I was hoping we'd limp to another 3 points as we haven't been playing particularly well as of late.
If we were playing again next week it could be argued it probably wasn't a bad think as it could have been a rocket up the backside we needed.
Yeah, having the long break now, after that, is a killer.

Wonder how much chopping and changing of the back line has to do with how open we looks at times when teams actually get after us. I genuinely have no idea when the last time I thought I could predict our back 4. Walkers injury really hasn’t helped, but we never seem to have a steady Centre back pairing at the moment.
I do think we miss Walker a lot. I think we are much more exposed on the counterattack without him.

I wonder if he’ll be getting in waistcoat’s starting XI for the “big one” vs Iran. Just a bit concerned he’ll be thrown in and overplayed. I agree we need him 100% for when the season restarts.

Not just Pep.
We should have win it under Pellegrini.
We was never going to win it with the likes of Sagna & Fernando that year, That Real Madrid team was unstoppable & we did good getting to the semis.

We should have won it 2 maybe 3 years on the bounce with Pep but we can't because of ludicrous decision making, In the final we had Gundogan holding midfielder with Rodri & Dinho on the bench, Cancelo & Aguero on the bench, we've been knocked out by Spurs & Lyon it's a joke.

Not to mention a woefully out of form Sterling being picked.

We didnt play well enough yesterday, we got beat, we move on

However, the absolute joke of the VAR decisions was on another level. It is about time that we the fans (of all clubs) got together and demand that we want to hear what is being said - just as they do in rugby, Full Transparency

At the moment is is being implemented differently week in, week out with decisions being made that contradict a previous decision from another game, and the people in charge dont have to explain as to why a decision was reached.

They are taking the piss out of us the fans

Very very poor performance, proper down about it today. Struggling to remember any real massive chances that we created?

As I posted in the match thread, baffles me why the bench wasn't used, that's one of the big advantages we have on other teams, we have some fucking brilliant players waiting to come on and change the game if it's not going our way, fucking use them!

Grealish must be feeling a bit confused, I know Pep rotates a lot but he doesn't seem to be allowed to get in any sort of rhythm. He will have a great game and then find himself on the bench next game. What annoyed me is he didn't even get a chance to come on and change the game yesterday. It's odd.

If we are all honest we aren't playing well at the minute in general, we've been fortunate to have only lost points in this game. Although we showed great fight against Fulham with 10 men, that could have easily gone the other way. It took a KDB free kick special against Leicester to get the win. Just not flowing properly right now. Hopefully this break does us good.
Need to find a team and stuck with it as we rotate way too much especially in defence . As for gundo and kdb in midfield we know it doesn’t work so why keep trying it . Don’t like to criticise gundo too much as in theory he did win us the title but maybe his day has gone now . Everyone is saying about grealish coming on too change things but when has he done that since he cane here. We need the works cup break to get focused again as arsenal are a threat and they can win this title plus Newcastle have massive backers and they are breathing down our necks so don’t discount them either . The main thing we need is a recognisable centre back pairing and we need it asap .

For my part.
Still absolutely gutted we lost three points to a team we should be beating. Having said that it’s happened before and will likely again.
It’s how we bounce back now but we have to wait weeks for the answer.
Was it the World Cup factor and attitude, the form of certain players or the tactics ?
I’m all for keeping the squad fresh and rotation to an extent. However does this impact on the cohesiveness of the team ?
I have Faith that Pep will answer the questions.

No matter how you dress it up our squad is weaker than last season. Gomez and Akanji were not top drawer purchases and I think both will be gone next season. Not purchasing a top drawer left back has yet again left us exposed. Alvarez it’s too early to judge. Haaland is a world class player no doubt, but not sure if he is the right fit. We seem to have one plan as per yesterday to find Haaland. Brentford put three defenders around him to cut out the feed. There was no other plan and you could see the frustration of the team. Kev was expected to thread balls where there was no space to thread them. I can see why Kane was Pep’s first choice and I think he would have been more suited to the team. Don’t get me wrong Haaland is world class and I really hope Pep finds a way to mould the side to have a plan B, when the ball to Haaland isn’t working. Our next purchases in the summer need to be top drawer signings to remain competitive. Personally, I miss wingers that can go past players. The excitement of Leroy and David Silva link up play. Raz when at his best. I just don’t find the football as exciting. The clatter of seats when everyone stood up to watch Leroy dancing past players. We were such an exciting team to watch. I just find the slow football build up with players not taking players on, and the possession safety football dull. I would love Pep to go back to wingers and the exciting football we used to play.
Yes, I also think a fast winger, who takes on his fullback, would suit Haaland better.

Spot on, far to much rotation for rotations sake it feels like, surely when teams on a roll you stick with it, someone drops off in form for whatever reason then make a change. Play to our strengths and let the other team worry about us.

That said as frustrating as it is, Pep’s the man and I,m sure we,ll come good after the WC.
