Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

We was never going to win it with the likes of Sagna & Fernando that year, That Real Madrid team was unstoppable & we did good getting to the semis.

We should have won it 2 maybe 3 years on the bounce with Pep but we can't because of ludicrous decision making, In the final we had Gundogan holding midfielder with Rodri & Dinho on the bench, Cancelo & Aguero on the bench, we've been knocked out by Spurs & Lyon it's a joke.
We were defeated by the narrowest of margins in Madrid and could have snatched an equaliser to send us through, had Pellegrini been more gung ho in the final few minutes.
(Ok, the margin of defeat may have been greater, but we would have gone down fighting at least).
Peps' worst decisions for me were in the ECL final against Chelsea.
Trying to out think the oppo manager and changing the set up from what had got us to the final was idiotic. The players were confused by Peps' selection/tactics and we were light in midfield.
Fern should have been on the pitch, (not shown chatting to Pep).
It's all very well trying to outsmart the oppo manager, but sometimes Peps' attempts to do this have outsmarted our team more than the oppo!
Pep seems to be failing more often these days by believing the hype that he is a genius and putting square pegs in round holes trying to be super smart.
At the moment, because of what he has achieved with City, I am prepared to cut him some slack, but the age old adage of, 'never change a winning team', applies.

As much as I love Pep, I'll never get over that Chelsea final. Insane decision making.

Thought I'd be calmer today after a night's sleep but am still fucking livid at yesterday's game. Nowhere near good enough from either our lads or Pep. If you have the players, then the template to compete with and beat us is there for all to see and Pep just sits there like a plum admiring it. Who'd a thunk that Brentford would be playing long ball after long ball to Toney or giving a masterclass in football's darker arts yesterday?
We are spoilt

Lots to think and chew over after that!!! So I'll just say two things;

Well done Brentford, well played

Quite a lot of City fans need to learn how to lose.
Also, the 10 men against Fulham, the hard game against Chelsea, didn’t help our legs in this game. They all looked a yard short. Again, I have to say, you cannot play Gundo and Kevin together, in this kind of opponent.

Oh fuck.. we lost a game..to a shit team..not like it has never happened before..to all the Blues who were in the Wigan end with me I salute you..that was real pain.
You've just brought back my PTSD over that, appreciate it mate

No matter how you dress it up our squad is weaker than last season. Gomez and Akanji were not top drawer purchases and I think both will be gone next season. Not purchasing a top drawer left back has yet again left us exposed. Alvarez it’s too early to judge. Haaland is a world class player no doubt, but not sure if he is the right fit. We seem to have one plan as per yesterday to find Haaland. Brentford put three defenders around him to cut out the feed. There was no other plan and you could see the frustration of the team. Kev was expected to thread balls where there was no space to thread them. I can see why Kane was Pep’s first choice and I think he would have been more suited to the team. Don’t get me wrong Haaland is world class and I really hope Pep finds a way to mould the side to have a plan B, when the ball to Haaland isn’t working. Our next purchases in the summer need to be top drawer signings to remain competitive. Personally, I miss wingers that can go past players. The excitement of Leroy and David Silva link up play. Raz when at his best. I just don’t find the football as exciting. The clatter of seats when everyone stood up to watch Leroy dancing past players. We were such an exciting team to watch. I just find the slow football build up with players not taking players on, and the possession safety football dull. I would love Pep to go back to wingers and the exciting football we used to play.
Great post.

We didnt play well enough yesterday, we got beat, we move on

However, the absolute joke of the VAR decisions was on another level. It is about time that we the fans (of all clubs) got together and demand that we want to hear what is being said - just as they do in rugby, Full Transparency

At the moment is is being implemented differently week in, week out with decisions being made that contradict a previous decision from another game, and the people in charge dont have to explain as to why a decision was reached.

They are taking the piss out of us the fans
The var decisions are sometimes inconsistent in the SAME match!

Is it me or did Phil Foden snub Erling again in the passing...grasping at straws now.
gonna be resorting to aloof humour soon.
Yes he did. We have got so used to not having anyone attacking the line. Now, when we get to the byline, we should always, put it in there. If Haaland doesn't convert, he will have, at least, attempted to.
