Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

What about Akanji being completely outjumped for the first ball?

He was nothing short of a disgrace. Pep spent most of the afternoon telling the clown where to stand.

Today we discovered that he is one of those defenders who looks very good when not being asked to defend or physically compete.
Bang on , no fucking wonder Dortmund didn’t put up a fight to keep him , you can’t play centre half in the premier league if you don’t want to mix it

Fucks sake!
I'd already said that KDB, Cancelo, Rodri and Akanji had beyond awful games and that Guardiola had to take responsibility as well
So the back were awful? What about midfield? And halland? So it's now all on the defence, it was a shit show, says it all when in my opinion ederson was MOTM

Not deluded. Yes, a poor performance, but we weren’t beaten by the better team. Brentford would’ve bitten our hand off for a draw at any point. We had the control of the game to win it, in the end we should’ve called it a day and taken the point.
They had far more good chances than we did.
Take off your blue-tinted glasses.
Even Pep acknowledged they were the better team.

Pep is of course a genius, but his use of subs is odd. Tends to use them when a game is already won, to give someone a rest. Doesn't seem to bring them on when his starting lineup is obviously struggling. There's a bit of misplaced stubbornness & obstinacy there which costs us now and again ?

Thought City were pretty poor throughout - Pep included. To make one change - which left us exposed to counters - and then highlighting that we couldn't handle their tactics etc is just surreal and classic Pep.

I’m fooking off back to supporting Chelsea after that performance today…
At least the trams were decent today.

None of Akanji, Laporte nor Rodri could stop Toney either flicking the ball on or holding the ball up, it’s how they got up the pitch so regularly.

Had Stones not played Toney onside, the goal doesn’t stand even if Akanji misses his header.

I doubt Akanji has ever played many teams that do that in his career.

Brentford used throwback physical tactics as the ref had decided on a high bar for fouls.
