Top fella Brian Horton. Often seen in cheadle hulme pubs when we are on the box.
Was my eldest daughters first game, aged 18 months old! We were stood safely between 2 cars on the forecourt watching the police horses being used to move fans along and City fans lay down on the forecourt refusing to move. Blues were climbing onto the locked bars / gate around the main entrance shaking them like fuck as people inside the main stand lounge areas looked on in horror out of the windows.Bloody hell where has time gone. Remember coming out the Kippax to see a load of police running towards the maine stand. Thought it was kicking off with the away fans until another lad ran past shouting that there was a protest and fans were trying to storm the front entrance. Horton must have thought what have I done.
Always liked the way we played under him like others have said spurs, West ham and Blackburn were the last flickers of light before the bulb blew out.
Was it true that it was on his way into training that he heard that he'd been sacked or replaced by Alan ball? All the managers and cock ups we've had its had to remember which story belongs to correct person
Very true but listen to his voice when Dickov scores, he was as delighted as we were!I remember his commentary during the Gillingham playoff game. When we went 2 down, he said something along the lines of "that's that". Then, after Dickov equalised, he said "the game wasn't over; I said that". The ultimate revisionist commentary!
He was sacked at the end of the season...... Lee promised us a ''top 6 European manager'' - rumours of George Graham, Franz Beckenbaur et al.... and just as pre season started.... in came Alan BallBloody hell where has time gone. Agreed.
Francis Lee,was then, is now, and forever will be a complete and total wanker.
City was his vanity project that he tried to do on the cheap.
Worse, much worse, than Swales.
You're getting him mixed up with Frank Sidebottom.Always struck me as big headed ****.
