Yes, its easy to forget how successful he was in blue. Happy Birthday.Underrated player who gave everything. More or less one in two strike rate for us. I always thought his usual £100,000 transfer fee to be very low for such a quality player who always delivered. A proper Manc.
Absolute Manchester (and Stretford) football legend. Won titles in both red and blue. The guy should be knighted for his services to Manchester imho. Certainly more called for than the likes of Beckham!
I was behind the goal (16 years old) when Brian scored that diving header against Juve in the home leg in 76. We won 1 - 0, and I vividly recall the media saying it wasn't a great result as we'd need a 2 - 0 win to have any chance of progressing. We lost 2 - 0 in Turin and were eliminated. Juve were a fearsome team in the 70s - Causio, Bettega, Zoff and the ridiculously named Gentile - who was the exact opposite of 'Gentle'. Imagine Gentile playing these days - ha ha......... Brian was so at home in that company - such a good player. Would be an England regular today. Took no crap did Brian. Very disappointing when he left.Yes, its easy to forget how successful he was in blue. Happy Birthday.
More deserving of a knighthood than the gpcBrian Kidd comes across as a genuine nice humble guy and this is how he has appeared since he was a player all those year's ago. He has served both Manchester club's with distinction , both as a player and in the managerial/coaching set up and is actually a Mancunian.
His problem is he is probably too humble and quiet so goes under the radar when any honours or awards are being given out. Any interview I have seen with him after we have won honours he always days " It is great for Manchester too, keeps the City on top in the football world." If anyone deserves a personal award Kiddo does.
