Brian Kidd

I’m not a fan of the honours system but if it has to exist, and you are going to have people in football knighted, then Sir Brian Kidd would be one who deserves it for his services to the whole of Manchester football. Rather that than Alistair Campbell telling Tony Blair to knight a toxic pisscan because it would be great PR
Longsight. Well said. Just think of those who have been honoured to date. Robbie Savage or Jordan Henderson anyone? Maybe the Gvmt will have a spare when and if Giggs is convicted.

Brian Kidd:

"It’s been a sobering 18 months. You only have to look at the families who have lost loved ones to see that. And football has not been the same with the restrictions. The time was right to step aside. I have nothing but huge gratitude to #ManCity. People will always try to put two and two together and look for hidden agendas but I give you my word there is nothing untoward. I’ve had 12 wonderful years with three great managers, and being a local lad it has meant the world to me. But recent times have not been the same. I’m 72, Colin has just passed away, and then there was Tony and Nobby … so many."

Great player for City in a very decent mid/late 70s side that would ( I believe) have won the league at least once in many other seasons since.
Seemed to be a very popular, settling influence behind the scenes over the past decade also.
Met Kiddo when I did a stadium tour with my daughter a few years back, posed for a photo, seemed a nice, genuine quite relaxed kind of guy (annoyed that I didn't print the photo off an old phone!)
As others have said admired by most on both sides of Manchester it would seem. There can't be too many players who have remained popular playing for 2 direct rivals that I can think of. Maybe another ex City player Steve McMahon on Merseyside perhaps? Would defo have thought Pat Jennings in North London?

Can easily be done. Needs two supporting letters - I'd like to think someone in an exec position at both city and the rags would put pen to paper.

Just to put his length of service into context he started under Matt Busby, played for England under Alf Ramsay, Arsenal under Bertie Mee and coached under Alex Ferguson, Sven-Göran Eriksson and Pep Guardiola that's one hell of a resume I very much doubt any player/coach has been able to put those kind of names together
