Well hopefully I`ve got someones attention just by merely the thread title.
Yes its true I do believe that Mr.Marwood deserves some praise in helping secure the services of 5 players after receiving some unfair criticism over the past month.
Did we get who we actually wanted ? Did Bobby get his full quota of Players and those Players from his Liist "A" ? No I very much doubt that, seeing and hearing that we lost out on Hazard,De Rossi etc,who allegedley were initially our prime targets.
However reading some of the crap on here, belittling the guy on various fronts, due to losing out on the above two players (and possibly more) its time we settled down and give Marwood a little bit of credit.
Our last two signings appears to help appease those fans who slagged him off,for bringing in Wright,Sinclair and to some extent Maicon, where thge concensus seem to be a bit divided by fellow Blue Mooners at the moment.
We lost Savic and my hero de Jong, with the Club and moreso Marwood again coming under severe criticism for only getting an assumed amount of £3.5M for Nige. That figure came out of the gutter press and last night we heard that the actual fee was anything from £7 -10M instead from James Cooper, another person who came under fire from Blue Mooners for giving us a figure of £16M for the services of Garcia, which looks like it could be correct, with adds ons to come.
I`ve said before this thread, too many people think that Twitter and the Press are the bees-knees of reliable information and when the shit hits the fan and we realise that this isn`t so,Marwood gets it in the neck.
I am NOT discussing his role in the Academy,as I don`t know enough. However,it has been stated before by Khaldoon that His Highness and himself hold BM in esteem for his work carried out in securing transfer targets,or not in some cases, due to circumstances outside of the Clubs remit.
Some Blue Mooners need to realise that Marwood just does NOT go out and buy who he wishes as an individual. This is done with a Committee which also includes Bobby Manc, who will have more than a say on who comes and who stays.
Am I expecting a deluge of fans to agree with me ?? No fucking chance and people will still be of the opinion that Marwood is shite in their eyes.
Come January we start all over again, but with our new CEO now in place, will we see anything different in the way we conduct our transfers and more importantly will Marwood still be dealing directly in this role ?
Who knows, but I for one am relieved that we have bought some class players in this window, not to everones taste I know, but its better than it looked at 8.00am yesterday morning.
Now,let battle commence.Good job my shoulders are as broad as my Guinness waistline and I`ll see anyone for any further debates in the Waldorf this afternoon from 1.15pm onwards or Summerbees from 4.00pm.

Now matter how much you polish this turd its still a turd. Marwoods days are numberd that's for sure and good riddance when the new CEO finally gives him his cards.

My reply is not about Marwood, it is a general comment.

Finalizing 5 deals in the last day of the summer transfer window might look good, but it also suggest to poor planning, because of two reasons:

1. Mancini said many times that he want the new players to be available on time and to participate in the preseason preparation. Now they all need time so settle and gel that will impact thier contribution during the first period

2. We have missed some of the main targets, if not all. ofcourse we may not have control on all deals, but i think in some deals we could have done better.
Which ones?

It was in support of Marwood aimed at posters on here I assume, because he's took unnecessary stick from people who haven't a clue what is happening at the club.

are you sure? Do you know this as the truth?

Who can be sure?

This is based on the information that were circulated widely.
The agent for Hazard wanted £6m, even the scum told him to feck off. T Silva went for the money, we've done it to teams, it happens.

Hazard and RVP both said they didn't want to come to City so how is that Marwood's fault?
Un-be-lievable Jeff!!

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

Before the window we targeted a world class CB and CM to add to the ranks. We have signed neither. We've merely replaced what's been sold. I dont get the cheers for Marwood as our primary objectives have still not been met.

Missing on Hazard was a gutter. We could have closed Belhanda or Ramirez who were linked.
We missed on Agger and never looked elsewhere, Nastasic is a replacement for the woeful Savic.
Why not Sahin on loan, a no brainer deal whilst we look elsewhere and sign somebody next year?
Isco at Malaga was supposedly getable for 15m. A steal! If you've watched him you'll agree.

All in all it was ok but it was far from a great window. Hopefully the Hazard fee we saved will be spent next year on targets we effectively have in the bag.

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

Eventually made some good signings and got rid of the people we needed to.

My personal gripe is that it has just taken so long. Without knowing all the facts i guess it is easy to blame Marwood but who else does these decisions come down to.

I think he will be out before Jan. Soriano will want his own people.

We refused to be held to ransom,so Chelski and the rags got fisted instead.
Unless you think that our new-found wealth gives us the divine right to sign anybody, regardless of the cost?

No we didn't.

We wanted a good young CB that could grow with the club and a top DM to replace DJ who was always off.

On the DM front, we had scouted DDR, Martinez and Garcia and got one of our targets.

The only thing we missed out on was Hazard, but we couldn't have done any more.
