Still no CM and still no CB. Kolo was meant to be sold and replaced wasn't he?

I'm not banging on about anything, just stating we were short last season at CB and CM and haven't replaced. Pretty simple really so drop the attitude.
Ermmmm?

Garcia and Nastychic

And Rodwell, who can pay either position, also Dougie Maicon who has played the right of three centre backs, Mancini know's him and must of wanted him.

wish you would stop banging on about players we havent signed. You keep throwing players names into the mix. You havent got a clue who our targets really where.

It was clear for all to see that we didn't get our targets hence the late nature of our movement.

No attitude mate, you have constantly banged on about Sahin Isco etc in the transfer forum.

As i said you dont know who our targets actually where. Our player committee will have scouted hundreds of players done due dilligence on them, and the ones who fitted the profile will have been enquired about.

Fair comment but please understand I watched over 20+ hours of football a week and follow La Liga religiously aswell ad watching the top teams in Bundesliga (Italy I'm not arses about bar mig matches).

Sahin is amazing, literally full stop.
Isco is one the best young Spaniard coming through right now and we had a chance to sign because Malaga need the funds.

I'm not banging on for said player and asking to pay 30-40m for him, I'm saying take the loan option and pursue the cheap deal of Isco. Both would ADD to the quality we have and compliment further as they fill gaps. One a CM and the other is a Wide player/CAM. With Sinclair we have a single winger and then we mirror him the other wing with Silva or Nasri whom both aren't wingers. Isco could have done that job.

Anyway. Just my opinion on matters. Regardless of cheap bargains we missed/passed on. We still lack in CM. CB we can be ok aslong ad Vinny and Lescott don't get a bad injury. I just shit myself at the prospect of a long ACON run for Yaya or god forbid an injury.

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

Seems to me that some people think Marwoods job was to keep throwing money at our main targets and their clubs until a deal was done

Its FM mentality at its finest, bit in the real world its often the case that saying no is much better than bending over.

I don't get this comment. We have replaced De Jong with both Garcia and Rodwell. How is that not an improvement on last year?

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

And I don't know how Marwood can criticised for not taking it upon himself to buy the likes of Sahin and Isco when our manager may never have been interested in either.

My reply is not about Marwood, it is a general comment.

Finalizing 5 deals in the last day of the summer transfer window might look good, but it also suggest to poor planning, because of two reasons:

1. Mancini said many times that he want the new players to be available on time and to participate in the preseason preparation. Now they all need time so settle and gel that will impact thier contribution during the first period

2. We have missed some of the main targets, if not all. ofcourse we may not have control on all deals, but i think in some deals we could have done better.
I think that's missing the point.
Everybody would like to sign players early in the transfer window ideally but the whole point is to negotiate the best deal for the club especially wit FFP in mind.
We are a big wealthy club and smaller less wealthy clubs will inevitably try to screw us for as much cash as they can. It's normal. The players and their agents are also trying to negotiate the best salaries possible.
Now we are a successful outfit there is no reason on earth we should be subsidising other teams and bending over to accommodate players and agents greedy demands and this is clearly the stance Marwood and his team have taken.
In the end I think it has resulted in us being able to sign quality players at their market price.
It has meant waiting till the end of the window but surely you would rather do this than end up with catastrophic deals such as those for Ade, WB and RSC which incidentally are still affecting us more than 3 yrs down the line!!
It's a well done to Marwood and his team for me. They have delivered.

All the above I've highlighted - (1) We could've closed because we were linked?? WTF does that mean? we were linked with about 50 players should we close them on your say so. (2) Missed on Agger? Mancini said we never looked at him, plus a reported 22 milion and Nastasic is a great prospect NOW and long term. (3) Why not Sahin? Maybe because we have Silva, Nasri, Sinclair, Milner etc etc and he didn't fancy being a sub? And maybe hes not good enough for us (4) If Isco is such a steal, why was nobody else interested?

We are much stronger than yesterday morning - All in all a very good window of experience and potential.

It's not hard to be stronger than yesterday morning is it?
We need to be stronger than when Sergio banged the third goal in at QPR. Are we?

Sahin was best player in Germany year for last and only struggled at Real with injury. He's one of best players in the world in his position, that's why.

How dare I wish for the best for my club.

Dzeko was the top scorer in Germany the same year... Also if Sahin is one of the best players in the world why is he only on loan and why only Liverpool in for him??

Arsenal were in for him too.

He went to Liverpool because of Rodgers anf Jose relationship and because of the football played.

He's on loan because Real Madrid have Alonso, Modric and Khedira all going for his position. Competition for places with internationals littered in your position.

He's on loan because Jose would rather keep than Sell but Real were open (by all accounts) to loan with view to buy if it was a good deal. Just loaning him for a year was enough, remember Pizarro last year, this lad passes better than him!

20 hours may seem a lot to you but compared with the hundreds of hours per week our scouting team and Mancini analyse (not watch with a brew), it pales into insignificance.

-- Sat Sep 01, 2012 9:55 am --

You might get a better view if you spent more time watching live football.
