Brian Marwood (merged)

Well done Brian Marwood.

Seems to me that some people think Marwoods job was to keep throwing money at our main targets and their clubs until a deal was done

Its FM mentality at its finest, bit in the real world its often the case that saying no is much better than bending over.
that's the long and short of it

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

Well done Marwood.

Much undeserved abuse & came through with flying colours.

If it was so simple to sign people like DeRossi, someone would have already done it.

What we have done is make great additions to the squad & get most of the deadwood out whilst working within the financial requirements of the club.

Absolutely excellent job by him, Khaldoon & everyone involved.

But it's not. As I've explained many, many times now.

I see you've found a way to dismiss the argument rather than actually have an opinion.

No attitude mate, you have constantly banged on about Sahin Isco etc in the transfer forum.

As i said you dont know who our targets actually where. Our player committee will have scouted hundreds of players done due dilligence on them, and the ones who fitted the profile will have been enquired about.

Fair comment but please understand I watched over 20+ hours of football a week and follow La Liga religiously aswell ad watching the top teams in Bundesliga (Italy I'm not arses about bar mig matches).

Sahin is amazing, literally full stop.
Isco is one the best young Spaniard coming through right now and we had a chance to sign because Malaga need the funds.

I'm not banging on for said player and asking to pay 30-40m for him, I'm saying take the loan option and pursue the cheap deal of Isco. Both would ADD to the quality we have and compliment further as they fill gaps. One a CM and the other is a Wide player/CAM. With Sinclair we have a single winger and then we mirror him the other wing with Silva or Nasri whom both aren't wingers. Isco could have done that job.

Anyway. Just my opinion on matters. Regardless of cheap bargains we missed/passed on. We still lack in CM. CB we can be ok aslong ad Vinny and Lescott don't get a bad injury. I just shit myself at the prospect of a long ACON run for Yaya or god forbid an injury.

I don't get this comment. We have replaced De Jong with both Garcia and Rodwell. How is that not an improvement on last year?

CM and CDM are too different positions. Roswell and Garcia are defensive midfielders. What we need imo is a third runner who partners Garcia/Barry and Yaya. A passer of the ball who helps speed up play from back to front. Someone who can deliver a killer ball to the box.

Compare with Barca say.

They have Busquets as CDM and then have Iniesta and Xavi in CM. Thats 2 CMs and one CDM.

We play with 2 CDM and one CM. Yaya passes amazingly but our CDM don't. A Sahin tupe player would and provides us with a quicker build up play and provides cover once Yaya is out.

-- Sat Sep 01, 2012 10:02 am --

You might get a better view if you spent more time watching live football.

Every game is live.

When I attend games I don't watch where the balls going, I watch to see our failings and where we lack. CM screams.

Don't iniesta and Xavi play the Silva and Nasri role?

All this CM, DM and AM stuff is FM bullshit. Midfielders are more versatile in real life and I think you will be surprised by Garcia. He is not DJ MkII

-- Sat Sep 01, 2012 10:05 am --

You're being silly now.

Re: Well done Brian Marwood.

Yeah them Silva and Nasri fella's need to shape up a bit, because our friend here can't see them on the telly.

Still no CM and still no CB. Kolo was meant to be sold and replaced wasn't he?

I'm not banging on about anything, just stating we were short last season at CB and CM and haven't replaced. Pretty simple really so drop the attitude.
Ermmmm?

Garcia and Nastychic

And Rodwell, who can pay either position, also Dougie Maicon who has played the right of three centre backs, Mancini know's him and must of wanted him.

Rodwell didn't even become a regular at Everton but he's good enough to start for the champions. He's one for the future, not the here and now against Real fucking Madrid. He will come good no doubt but he isn't the answer. He's more of a replacement for Barry and is English.

Maicon was bought to add width. Kolorov/Clichy and he the other. Cover for Richards too. He's legs have slowed and he's been sliding at Inter. Good cover signing but don't expect the Maicon that won the CL.

Yep, his credibility is dwindling.

Before the window we targeted a world class CB and CM to add to the ranks. We have signed neither. We've merely replaced what's been sold. I dont get the cheers for Marwood as our primary objectives have still not been met.

Missing on Hazard was a gutter. We could have closed Belhanda or Ramirez who were linked.
We missed on Agger and never looked elsewhere, Nastasic is a replacement for the woeful Savic.
Why not Sahin on loan, a no brainer deal whilst we look elsewhere and sign somebody next year?
Isco at Malaga was supposedly getable for 15m. A steal! If you've watched him you'll agree.

All in all it was ok but it was far from a great window. Hopefully the Hazard fee we saved will be spent next year on targets we effectively have in the bag.

All the above I've highlighted - (1) We could've closed because we were linked?? WTF does that mean? we were linked with about 50 players should we close them on your say so. (2) Missed on Agger? Mancini said we never looked at him, plus a reported 22 milion and Nastasic is a great prospect NOW and long term. (3) Why not Sahin? Maybe because we have Silva, Nasri, Sinclair, Milner etc etc and he didn't fancy being a sub? And maybe hes not good enough for us (4) If Isco is such a steal, why was nobody else interested?

We are much stronger than yesterday morning - All in all a very good window of experience and potential.

It's not hard to be stronger than yesterday morning is it?
We need to be stronger than when Sergio banged the third goal in at QPR. Are we?

Sahin was best player in Germany year for last and only struggled at Real with injury. He's one of best players in the world in his position, that's why.

How dare I wish for the best for my club.

Yesterday morning we were Champions - it is quite hard to improve as we already have a strong squad. As other posters have said, we know little about the targets and the reason that we got them or didn't het them. Many peoples 'facts' are really just newspaper rumour, presented as 'fact'

Whichever way, we have who we have now and we have our team to support. I hope people will give our signings a fair chance and not get on their back after every little mistake. How long will it be before BM has its new boo boy ? Some have already started on Scott Sinclair before he has kicked a ball for us !
