Bridge to Sunderland on loan (updated)

Re: bridge

Maybe we're hoping he can help Sunderland take points off United like how he helped West Ham get a draw against Spurs last season.

Why on earth would anybody think Bridge would help Sunderland beat scum?

"I'm hoping that with Wayne's undoubted experience and ability he can be a big help to the team until the end of the season. I'm very pleased to have him here and with the number of injuries we've sustained recently I'm sure he'll be a great help to us."

Martin O'Neill.

Does he mean in teaching the injured players to play golf?

(sorry couldn't resist that, I actually quite like Wayne and hope that he gets his career back on track............. or at least on the football pitch!!)

Haha I don't know but I bet nobody thought he'd have such a good game against Lennon in that 0-0 with Spurs. He might surprise us and have the game of his life vs Valencia/Nani

How much of his wages are we covering? I'm guessing 90% at least. Fucking Hughes has caused us no end of bother offering huge wages to utter shite players.

SSN earlier said Mackems were paying most of his wages.

Wayne Bridge - Sunderland on loan

Not seen this reported elsewhere... so here goes.

Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge has joined Sunderland on loan until the end of the season. The 31-year-old left-back has been surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium this season, making just one appearance in the Carling Cup. The England international has become Martin O'Neill's first signing as Sunderland manager and goes straight into his squad for Wednesday night's Premier League clash with Norwich. O'Neill said: "I'm hoping that with Wayne's undoubted experience and ability he can be a big help to the team until the end of the season. "I'm very pleased to have him here and with the number of injuries we've sustained recently I'm sure he'll be a great help to us." Bridge was a £12million signing from Chelsea in January 2009 and has made 42 league appearances for City. The former Southampton trainee also made a loan move last January, making 15 league appearances for West Ham, but he was unable to help the Hammers avoid relegation from the Premier League.
