Brighton (A) - Post Match Thread.

I dont agree... Yaya would not change our game today... and ferna was not at fault for our ball tempo ...
I agree with Trev, Yaya is capable of committing defenders by going at them with the ball, plus he's far better shooting from range, plus picking more precise passes. Dinho started due to Pep being cautious about how Brighton would approach the game.

Another game where we dominate and end up conceding more fouls and yellow cards. Strange one that.

I found the game to be reasonably clean to be honest. I thought Brighton were ok on that front. Didn't resort to dirty tricks. Jesus booking was v harsh but the other on was fair.

Yaya should be playing these games. Fernandinho was holding us back in possession. So relieved with the win though, on to the next game.

For me that was the strange selection. Perhaps Fernandinho has been good in training because last season he was very average. There is a good chance Gundogan will be in that role once fit

i want to see City win and have fun too. is this a bad thing to want? i have never had as much fun watching them play since the 11-12 season. there was no talk of 10 man defense or anything like that hindering us back then, we just arrived and rolled teams over. i want that feeling back. shouldn't be that hard of a task for the manager who supposedly coaches the best attack in the world, no?

better get used to it, there are only around 3 teams in the premiership that are going to go for a win against us when THEY are at home and thats Chelsea,Arsenal, Liverpool you may be able to chuck spurs in that but no way Man United and at the Etihad all teams will come for a draw, breaking teams down is an art but on the plus side once a team that parks the bus goes 1 down then their is no plan B so we end up getting 3,4 or 5, i fancy us for breaking all records for goal scoring this season and a team that bags that many cant be that bad to watch

For too long today was a carbon copy of what we seen last season. When we start off slowly it sets the tone for the whole match. Where have the lightening fast starts gone? the ones that blow the opposition away in the first 20 minutes. the early goal puts paid to this park the bus nonsense that we struggle to break down. No need for fern today at all.

Yeah. We should just score early every game. Let's do that every week from now on. Simple.

we started well, failed to score in 2-3 situations that were promising (that is the carbon copy though) and than they stabilized and closed the shop. Scoring early goals in matches like this is crucial.

Food poisoning? Headache? Sore throat?
Think I am just a bit spoilt from recent matches. Go back 7yrs and I would have been happy but we play such flowing football these days that when it just doesn't click I find it really frustrating (and yes I have supported city since 82 so I have seen us play terrible).
All matches where teams set up very defensive just become a war of attrition, you cannot blame them however.

We were constantly looking for clipped diagonal balls over the top, and often hitting them straight to the keeper or out of play. Think we got maybe 2 out of 10 right (one for the offside goal). Yaya nails those passes blindfolded. Every time.

Was always going to be a difficult game with it's being their first game in the division; I never thought we would steam roll them.

The fact we were SO in control is a positive, but I just thought the back three wasn't a roaring success. I think we needed Sane and Sterling to be those players who were receiving the ball wide, and one on one, in order to create something. Walker and Danilo were solid, but they are reliant on someone getting them into the dangerous positions, whereas Sane or Sterling can get there themselves.

A win's a win though, and given the start of various others this weekend, I'll take it all day long. Onwards and upwards
